Ran across my first self-made hanger and one of my first welding projects. Scrap metal, log chain and plywood were put together for this in 1978. Turnbuckles sucked it tight to any tree. A 5 gallon bucket worked as my seat, except for ice-coated days. 2x4 treated blocks were nailed in a zigzag pattern to climb.
It wasn't TMA approved, but I'd have no problem re-flooring it and adding some sticks for a new climb. P.S: Don't choose a black walnut for nails and chains. One day, it may be fairly valuable for a harvest log.
