With our new resident sea turtle nest on our beach, here's a few sea turtle facts and some useful tips:
π’ There are seven recognized species of sea turtles: Leatherback, Green, Loggerhead, Hawksbill, Kempβs Ridley, Olive Ridley, and Flatback.
ποΈ The most common species in Florida is the Loggerhead.
π All seven are listed as endangered or threatened.
π Look but don't touch. Please never disturb a sea turtle nest, marked or not (yet) marked.
π£ If you see turtle tracks, and suspect a nest, please alert the local wildlife authorities so it may be marked.
πͺ Even more important than ever, with a nest so close to the hotel, please keep your guest room window curtains closed at night. Bright white light attracts hatchlings, as it disorients them. We want them to head toward the water, not back toward land! π©΅
