There’s still plenty to enjoy about fall in St. Ignace.

The changing colors along the Straits, freighters passing beneath the Mackinac Bridge, and quieter days to explore the shoreline all make this a wonderful time to visit.

Take a scenic drive, find a new view of the bridge, or spend the afternoon exploring downtown before settling in somewhere warm for dinner.

Have you visited Tahquamenon Falls lately? There’s a different way to experience the Upper Falls these days. A new accessible boardwalk winds through the forest to the brink of the falls, replacing the old 94-step staircase.

It’s a beautiful time of year to explore one of the Upper Peninsula’s most remarkable places, and an easy day trip from St. Ignace.

Fall is a beautiful time to stop at the Cut River Bridge!

About 25 miles west of St. Ignace along US-2, you’ll find scenic overlooks, wooded trails, and stairways leading beneath the bridge all the way down to a sandy beach on Lake Michigan.

If you’ve only ever driven across it, there’s a lot more to explore!

You don’t have to leave downtown St. Ignace to enjoy a little fall color.

The waterfront is a good place to start. Follow the shoreline, stop by the lighthouse, or find yourself a bench with a view of Lake Huron.

We even caught a few sandhill cranes passing overhead.
