Flatheads Crinan and HC Cease & Desist had a 12.5% chance of having a red calf, if we were gambling I would have lost all my money… But I’ll gladly take a healthy heifer calf any day of the week!

When I lost one of my favorite donors, Flatheads Crinan, I was pretty thankfully we had a stockpile of her embryos in the tank. So far this fall, Crinan has had three heifers born, two sired by HC Cease & Desist and one sired by Karabin Farms Tuffy.

What a summer it’s been so far, high temps and very little rain, it’s easy to get discouraged. But those extra couple minutes every night when I’m done working calves and get to step back and just look at them, makes the worry and headache fade just a bit.

Although I’m still debating the final destination for these two September born ET bulls, I’m still impressed with them and excited for the future! But as of now, I think I’ll let em keep their 🥜 🥜

Fairy dust? Good luck? or just a profitable “fat” show heifer? Doesn’t matter if you have attended a self proclaimed highland clinic or not, she’s one you can admire and appreciate any day of the week!

RLC Waukena, born August 2023. Flushed once at 1 year 8 months, successfully freezing 7 embryos. Bred at 1 year 9 months, went to National Western in January 2026 as a heavy bred Senior heifer, came home, 6 weeks later popped out a pretty black heifer calf at 2 years 6 months and rebred at 2 years 8 months. If everything goes right, she will have 2 natural calves and a couple ETs on the ground all before 3 years 5 months. But yes please continue to tell me how “show rings” and “show jocks” will ruin the breed.

Powerful and Maternal are two things that come to mind when talking about the O’Tula cow family!
Not very often do you see Symbiosis Lady O’Tula far away from daughter RLC Tinsley (STR Homeland X O’Tula) and new granddaughter sired by FTH Magnus. We’ve seen some FTH Magnus sired babies and we are sure excited for this one’s future!
