Saturday, October 24, 2026 … a lot of work accomplished today.

There was the Huskey family(Jason, Valerie, Julia, Nolan, and Jenna), Cooper Schoen, Justin Walker, Aaron Redecker, and Doug Simminger all came out to do some demo jobs. Thank you for contacting Craig Petzoldt so that he was prepared for your coming out ahead of time.

Removal of shingles over the deck was torn off of the Dining Hall and then that part, that used to cover the deck, was completely removed, aluminum was removed from the old walk-in cooler, the hood to the gas stove was removed. Take a look at the pictures…they say a lot!!!

The group worked for at least 4-5 hours or more.

Lunch was served with pizza’s prepared by Patti P. The Upper Room is working out to be a good place to meet for lunch or snack times.

REMEMBER-No work will be done on Sunday. As always, Sunday is a day of rest. God Bless your day off everyone!

October 21-23, 2026 …
Good days but slow days. Craig Petzoldt worked in several areas but took care of the camp as a whole.

Work goes on every day whether tearing down a building or cleaning up some things that needs doing. Or going to appointments to be with family.

Thank you to all the volunteers thus far. Very much appreciated.

See October 24, 2026 … work.

Tuesday, October 20, 2026 … a very busy day!

Early came this morning at camp. Craig was outside at 7 am getting ready for the group of volunteers to come in and Patti was baking cookies and got the BBQ in the crockpot for lunchtime.

It was great to have a good turnout for Pastors Work Day here at camp.

John V, Kylie S, Mike S were first to arrive. But soon to follow was Steve F. from Fredricktown, (others came and I’ll correct this when I get the sign-in sheet tomorrow), also Jim C, Randy A, Tim M, Mike P, Andrew G, Gary R, and John B. (All accounted for volunteering today.)

Big appliances were moved to the storing place, big sinks, ice machine and convection oven. The kitchen restroom was taken out, the ramp out the back door was torn out, the HVAC was removed from its homing place in the kitchen, the large picnic tables were taken to the Snack Shack area from the dining hall deck and some items placed at different areas to store, dispose of or disassemble.

Pictures are telling the big story of what has taken place. Getting ready for major breakdown!!!!

Amy Redecker and her four children helped with lunch. Thank you Amy and children. You did a great job! Craig and Patti really appreciate you all for coming out today.

Tremendous work got accomplished!!!!

Good Bless you all.

October 19, 2026 … Cool day!

It seems there are little but big things still needing attention to get the building down. Here it is past the middle of the month and still so much to get torn out and removed from the old dining hall building. We are very appreciative of the helpers that have shown up and look forward to getting more of you to help. We will provide you with lunch, water, coffee and snacks.

Craig and Patti worked in the building removing lights, wood trims and wall to get ready for Tuesday helpers. The Pastors of churches are arriving to help tomorrow. Exciting to have their support in this.

October 17, 2026 …

Not much happened this Saturday. But some things did take place. John C and helper came out very early to get the propane stove removed from the kitchen. It was donated to a business in another location. That was a big deal!

A couple of men, Tim M and Shane H, came out to pull off some of the barn wood from the dining hall. It looks kind of eerie now. But that’s expected if the building is to be replaced.

And at this point … THERE IS NO TURNING BACK!

Tuesday, October 13. Another quiet day!

Afternoon led to Craig and Patti removing bins and bags of tied up pans to the basement for storage to clear out the kitchen. There are still some small items to move to the basement but very little. Good to get things moved.

- There is a light on the back of the dining hall that needs to be removed.
- More shingles need to be removed on the front and back side of the building. Help is needed.
- Now, the bigger items need to be moved and a storage built to surround for safe keeping from the winter weather. At least 4-5 men. This needs done before we can tear the building completely down.
- The walk-in cooler needs to be torn apart also.
- The kitchen shed needs to be moved away from the dining hall.

Are you available soon?
During the week, Saturday but please NO SUNDAYs.

Pray for the volunteers, pray for God to bless our Peaceful Valley Camp - Dining Hall.

Thank you everyone.

October 12. Another eventful day!

Craig, John Bush, Gary Robinson, and Allen Mansal arrived early. The goal first hand was to put away the giant water slide, tarps and water hose. And they did get it accomplished and put in the shed for storage during the winter months. Thank you guys for arriving and helping with this project.

John and Craig moved the freezers to the snack shack and we will use at least one to store ice while we are building the new Dining Hall. Patti is making ice at the house with two portable ice machines on-hand.

The air conditioner unit was pulled out of the window, the three sink unit was pulled out, the washer and dryer was removed the day before (these will be replaced since the washer broke during the summer because of being overloaded) anyone who wants to donate a new set, it would be appreciated.

Lots of miscellaneous stuff and that in itself takes time! John took lots of stuff to dispose of when he left camp for the day.

Some things cannot be done without the help of 4-5 men. Please help if able to do manual labor.

Also, Trinity Baptist, Ed Carter, has donated pulled pork and chicken to help provide food for the volunteers. Thank you, Ed. It’s in the freezer waiting to be eaten by volunteers! 😊

We appreciate any help in providing food staples. Patti is willing to cook, and has done so already. We need help to provide this service to keep volunteers happy.

What and how and when can you volunteer to be of service to Peaceful Valley Camp - Dining Hall Rebuild and parking lot? We Need You!!!

God Bless our Volunteers!

October 10, a quiet day!

Some things were accomplished when a family of four showed up to volunteer in the afternoon. They were Jason, Valerie, Nolan and Julia Huskey. Jenna decided to celebrate her day with grandma! Happy Birthday to Jenna! 🎉🎂🎊

Chairs were put in the Upper Room, the outside light on the front, cell phone booster and an old light frame by Jason. Then they all went around back to the lower part of the roof and removed the shingles and put them in the trailer.

We didn’t get any pictures. But we know they were busy with a job needed doing.

Thank you Huskey family for coming out.

Any pictures are appreciated for this project. Please send them to Patti Petzoldt at 573-450-4322. 😊

Small things are needing to be moved out of the building yet! Help is need to do that.

Then the next thing needing done is removing all the appliances under shelter. That will need the help of several men. Plus building the shelter around them out in BLANCHE area. That will be started as soon as possible, Monday???? Need man power on this section.

Have a blessed Sunday. Remember it is a day of Rest and Craig and Patti take this day. Please do not show up on Sundays.

God Bless you all and see you Monday!!!

October 9, What a day!!!

MFA showed up early to move the propane tank out of the way. The giant Bell was removed and placed over next to the tank. There were several involved to get that moved.

Valerie, Nolan, Julia and Jenna Huskey came out to help put different items where needed in the camp. They managed to clean a closet in the Upper Room so that it could be used for storage from the Dining Hall. They also picked up roof shingles, checked rubber balls for use during games, and they removed the mattress covers from beds at Blanche Dorm.

John Bush removed the windows that were auctioned off at the Banquet fundraiser, and Craig worked doing misc projects as needed. Removed the donation box outside the building. And helped others where needed his help.

First meal prepared by Patti, for today was Sloppy Joes and Mac & Cheese. Some left before it was finished. Maybe next time.

While in the Upper Room after lunch, Patti and Amy, Jaelyn, Jackson, Mylia and Molly Redecker, started setting up the dining areas to have seating for others that would come out to work during the next 7 months. It was a task that soon took shape with the help of them pulling tables, chairs, unpacking bins with paper products and placing in certain areas in the room. There is an area for drinks, food setups, dessert table, microwave, food table to hold what others bring already prepared, plates, silverware, napkins, cups, etc.

Even had Patti making ice today in their smaller version of an ice machine! 😊 The freezer that was moved to the Snack Shack on Monday decided it was too tired to keep working, so all the ice that was saved to use, melted! So it had to be the next best thing without going to the store.

The back exit to the kitchen is cleared. The giant size cooler needs to be removed. If you want it call Craig. Otherwise, it will be destroyed and soon!!!

It’s the small things that need doing too! And it can be difficult without several pitching in to help. The Dining Hall looks like a ghost building! Still a few machines that need removed. But it’s getting closer to the “old” coming DOWN!

Thank you to those who served Peaceful Valley Camp today. 🙏 Continue to pray that the needs are met for a completed Dining Hall.
