📍 Twin Lakes Campground | Chocowinity, NC

We stayed at Twin Lakes Campground for a few nights while making our way up the East Coast, and it turned out to be a great stopover. The campground offers spacious sites, water views throughout the park, a pool, playground, clubhouse, camp store, arcade, prize counter, and even ice cream for a fun treat after a day of exploring.

One of our favorite things about this location is its proximity to the charming waterfront town of Washington, just a short drive away. We enjoyed strolling the riverfront, exploring the historic downtown area, and checking out local shops and restaurants along the water.

If you’re traveling through eastern North Carolina and looking for a relaxing campground with plenty of amenities and easy access to a cute coastal town, Twin Lakes is worth considering.

Daddy was the hero tonight when he bravely climbed into the kid-sized loft to take out a tiny bug. 🪰💪

RV travel days go a lot smoother when you have a simple system instead of trying to remember everything in the moment. Here’s what we always rely on:

1. Have a pack up/set up checklist.

We follow the same checklist every time we break camp and set up again so nothing gets missed—hoses, hookups, jacks, slides, steps, doors. It keeps things consistent and stress-free.

2. Use an RV navigation app.

We use RV LIFE, an RV-specific navigation app to avoid low bridges, tight turns, and routes that aren’t RV-friendly, so we’re not guessing or dealing with surprises on the road.

3. Plan fuel stops before you need them.

Instead of waiting until we’re low, we map out fuel stops ahead of time so we’re never scrambling to find a station that can actually accommodate the RV.

4. Run your safety tech before every drive.

Before pulling out, we always check that our tire pressure monitoring system is active and our RV cameras are working so we know everything is safe and functioning properly.

5. Pack a no-stress cooler.

We keep a cooler stocked with lunch, drinks, and extra snacks so we don’t have to stop every time someone gets hungry and we can keep the day moving smoothly.
