The first rule of Pipe Club: don’t tell our spouses what we are spending on piping.

My financial adviser suggested buying a boat instead of Piping.

I tell people that “I only play socially.” But, I'm playing alone everyday and call it "Practice"

I put on an addition to the house just to store my Bagpipe Sheet Music Books.

I have more attachments, blowpipes, bags, moister systems, covers, tone protectors, and chanters to make a few extra sets of pipes.

Behind every great piper is a purchase their spouse has no idea about.

One drone, two drones, red face, many moans.

I had a life. I had a wife. Then tuning caused a bit of strife.
Now I live with dear old Mum. She’s started wishing I’d picked the drum.

The 4th Annual Caledonia Celtic Gathering was a success! We had great fellowship, education, food and fun! The modified Highland Games went well again this year. Congrats to those who competed and won.

We even had our Most Worshipful Grand Master, Dave Hendricks, in attendance. And Carter Green brought his band, McCowan and the Eavesdroppers who provided excellent tunes for the event.

And the food! Well, it was as good as last year, if not a little bit better!

Our pin for the Annual Celtic Gathering meeting is in production! You have to be at the meeting to receive the pin. You will also receive a fine Celtic style meal, an engraved piece of glassware to commemorate the meeting, Masonic education by W∴ Brother Gary Strout, and a chance to participate (or watch) our version of the Highland Games! Be sure to register and be there!

This past weekend our lodge traveled to St. Francisville, Louisiana to visit the Day the War Stopped, an annual celebration of friendship and brotherly love during the American Civil War.

We had been asked to perform one of our Masonic rituals/degrees which would be different from those in Louisiana. We were granted dispensation from the Grand Master’s of Kansas and Louisiana to open our lodge.

We took our entire lodge paraphernalia, including our spears and axes. There were 8 brothers in attendance. We opened on the Entered Apprentice degree and had a discussion about the differences in the opening for the five states who were represented at the meeting. Our officers did a wonderful job of opening our lodge.

Before that, we witnessed the opening of Feliciana Lodge No. 31, took part in the historic reenactment, had three of our pipers assist at the graveside ceremony, ate some very good jambalaya, and met with so many wonderful Brothers from many states and jurisdictions. If you were not a part of this trip, you missed a great event. We are planning to go again next year and you are welcomed to attend.

We are an affinity lodge, and are in a separate area now. But we are closest to Area 2 for most of our membership.

The Area 3 Schools of Instruction are being announced over the next few days. They will have three scheduled in Area 3.

The first will be in June, the second in August, and the third will be in McPherson on October 31. This will be held in conjunction with the annual Area 3 Meeting.

Several members of our lodge participated in the 38th Annual Memorial Day Observance in Junction City. They either played the pipes, were in the honor guard, or spoke at the event.
