Winter is knocking on the camper door! ☃️ Since I’m someone who strongly dislikes being cold, I’m currently turning my space into a heated fortress.

For those living tiny: What are your must-dos to prepare for a freeze? And more importantly, how do you keep from getting cabin fever when the snow piles up? 📖☕️

Things to do to Prepare for RVing in the Winter

Protect the water supply system from freezing and pipes from bursting
Protect the sewage system from freezing
Supplement our RV’s furnace with other heat sources

Key Steps for Full-Time Winter RV Living:
Insulate Everything:
Skirting: Block wind underneath with foam board or RV skirting to keep the underbelly warm.
Windows: Use thermal curtains, reflective, or window insulation kits to keep heat in and drafts out.
Walls/Vents: Add extra insulation and seal gaps around slide-outs.
Protect Your Plumbing:
Heat Tape: Wrap pipes and hoses with electrical heat tape/cable to prevent freezing.
Heated Hoses: Use a heated water hose to supply fresh water.
Tank Heaters: Install or use heated pads on your fresh, grey, and black tanks.
RV Antifreeze: Add RV antifreeze to the toilet and drains (after dumping) to protect valves and seals from freezing.
Heat & Moisture Control:
Furnace & Space Heaters: Use your RV's furnace, supplemented by electric space heaters (safely).
Open Cabinets: Leave cabinet doors open to let warm air circulate to pipes.
Dehumidifier: Essential to manage condensation and prevent mold.
