In 1950, Los Olvidados, directed by Luis Buñuel, rejected the idealized image of post-revolutionary Mexico by portraying the realities of urban poverty and neglected youth in Mexico City.
During that same period, vermouth was quietly making its way into the city’s social life. As audiences gathered at neighborhood cinemas, it was common to sip vermouth befor the film or during intermission.
