Ganga Zumbi, known by many as the African Spartacus. Was born in Kongo in 163O, enslaved and shipped to Brazil to work as a plantation slave. Managed to escape, raised an army of eslaved Africans and founded his own kingdom of Palmares, with a palace and court.

He is George McLaurin the first Black man admitted to Oklahoma University in 1948, he was forced to sit in a corner away from his fellow w.hite men.

But his name remains on the honor list as one of the top three students in college.

These are his words:

''Some colleagues looked at me like I was an a.nimal, no one spoke to me, for teachers I didn't even exist, they rarely answered my questions. I dedicated so much to myself, that after my teammates started looking for me and teachers started taking me into consideration. I stopped being invisible to them."

Education has more power than weapons.

Yanga and a gang of enslaved Africans revolted against their Spanish masters in 1570 and settled in the hills near Veracruz, Mexico. The Maroons, as they were known, established a safe haven for themselves and other escaped enslaved Africans. They went 30 years without being harassed.

Many African American went to Mexico for sanctuary and when s.lave owners demanded Mexico to send them back, Mexico replied with;There are no Black s.laves in Mexico only Black citizens. S.lave owners would then hire bounty hunters to try and steal them back but Mexico fought and k.illed to protect them.
