As we head into IGA and interact with all our peers....a few things to remember for connecting and networking.

1. Be the conversation starter. Avoid asking people, “What do you do?”—which usually leads to hearing a job title. Instead, try questions such as, “How long have you been coming to this event?” or “How long have you been a member of this group?” or “What’s been the best part of the conference so far for you?”



2. “Reverse the converse” and be curious about their story. It is easy to fall into the habit of talking about your experiences rather than asking probing questions to learn about others’ experiences. So, “reverse the converse” by asking questions that encourage someone to share their story. For example, “What are you most excited about in the next few months?” or “What is your favorite place to vacation?” When they tell you their story, they see you as someone genuinely interested in them and with whom they can relate. This can lead to a rewarding professional relationship.



3. Make things happen. How many times has someone said to you, “We should have lunch sometime,” or “We should have a call to continue this conversation”? If this is someone you want to connect with, take the lead and schedule it then! Most people who say this sincerely are well-intentioned. Unfortunately, life gets in the way, so be a collaborator—and with technology, most have their calendar at their fingertips. Why wait when you can book it right then and there?

MARK-IT SMART LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

We are excited to share a leadership update as mark-it Smart continues to grow and evolve.

Natasha Wratten will be joining mark-it Smart as EVP of Growth and Digital Strategy. In this role, she will focus on leading and supporting our sales organization, strengthening partnerships, and building out our digital and growth strategy as we continue to expand our offerings and support our customers.

Natasha brings a wealth of experience across the gaming, loyalty, and engagement ecosystem, with a perspective that spans the operator side, player development, guest engagement, and sales leadership, along with deep experience in technology and digital strategy. Her full-circle background and forward-thinking approach align naturally with where mark-it Smart is headed.

As we enter our 28th year with an average employee tenure of 16+ years, we look forward to Natasha being a part of the mark-it Smart family for many years to come. This next chapter is about building on our foundation while continuing to create new and exciting programs for our customers, as well as opportunities for our partners and team.

We are "stoked" ( cali speak ) for what lies ahead and confident that this addition positions mark-it Smart strongly for the future.
