A walk through the cemetery will give you chills. The driving tour is about 13 miles long with 20 interesting stops along the way. The first shot of the Civil War was here in Fraley Field. There are 217 cannons, a movie in the Visitor Center regarding the battle, and a library with souvenirs, books and CDs. The Tennessee River Museum is located in Savannah, which is a short drive from the campgrou

nd. Discover the story of the Tennessee River Valley which is both unique and fascinating. There are exhibits regarding prehistoric times, life of the Mississippian Mound Builders, the Trail of Tears, the Civil War along the river, the Golden Age of Steamboats and the Tennessee River today. There is also a Savannah Historic District Tour & Cherry Mansion in Savannah as well. Cherry Mansion was the headquarters of Union General Ulysses S. Grant for six weeks before and after the battle of Shiloh. This area is rich in history and Southern charm. Also known as the Catfish Capitol of the World, fishing is an important pastime for residents. Come visit us to see these historic places or just sit in the campground and enjoy the river, the fishing and watching the barges go through the locks.
