Another day, another 'fix'. The new jointer is a lovely machine but we've been struggling with dust collection.

Today's investigation confirmed that it's getting blocked between the 2 dust baffles right underneath the blade. For now we used duct tape to open the gap between the baffles so the chips can fall down to where the dust collector can suck them out.

Watch this space....

We've had some old epoxy slowly yellowing in the cupboard... Who knows if it will cure properly. So I made a few interes...

We've had some old epoxy slowly yellowing in the cupboard... Who knows if it will cure properly.

So I made a few interesting pen blanks and tested the small round mold with some planer curls that I kept from a long time ago... When they are cured maybe I will get the turning tools out - it's been too long.

The toy chest has finish, a nice aromatic cedar bottom and the lid and hardware is all in place. Ready for some toys..

One of the worst jobs in the shop is changing the paper on the disc sander.. it's a pain to remove, a pain to clean the glue off and you get one go at putting it on.

But someone (me) burned the paper last week making those round bun feet. So it had to be done.

We forgot to use the heat gun to loosen the glue so that took longer than usual. But YouTube provided a new technique to remove the glue using a torch and a scraper so we got the disc cleaner than it's ever been.

Mystery revealed. These are called "bun" feet and they go with the giant woven board. The feet took as long as the board...

The feet took as long as the board to make so this would have been a very expensive commission if it wasn't for the fact that the customer knows me very well 😃
