Not every Sedona adventure happens on a trail.

Tucked beneath sycamore trees and surrounded by vine-covered courtyards, Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village has been one of Sedona's most beloved gathering places since the 1970s.

Inspired by a traditional Mexican village, its winding pathways, hidden staircases, galleries, and quiet courtyards invite visitors to slow down and explore.

Ever wonder why Sedona's red rocks seem to catch fire at sunset?

The answer is iron oxide—the same mineral responsible for rust. When the sun sits low on the horizon, warm light reflects off the iron-rich sandstone, creating the deep reds and glowing oranges that make Sedona famous.

Trail Note: The best light often arrives 15–20 minutes before sunset, not after.

Some Sedona trails make you stop talking for a minute.

Wide canyon views, layered red rock cliffs, and quiet overlooks like this are why so many travelers come here for the hiking experience, not just the photos.

From Wildflower Inn, some of Sedona’s most scenic hiking areas are only minutes away, making it easy to spend less time driving and more time outside.

Fun fact: many ancient cliff dwellings across the American Southwest were intentionally built high into canyon walls for protection and visibility across the landscape.

Wooden ladders were often the main way in and out of these structures.

Some of these sites date back hundreds of years and were built long before modern tools, roads, or equipment existed. Seeing them up close gives a completely different perspective on how people once lived in the desert landscape.
