Who is responsible for accessibility once a marketing campaign is approved?

The designer might check color contrast. The social media team handles alt text. The web team manages landing pages and forms.

But what happens when each team reviews only its own part of the campaign?

A customer can access the promotional message but still hit a barrier when they try to respond.

Marketing accessibility requires coordination across the entire experience.

Before your next launch, review one campaign from the first message through the final action. Look for places where assistive technology users may struggle to get information or complete a task.

Learn why accessible marketing deserves a place in that process in our blog post, Accessible Marketing: Are You Missing Millions of Americans?

Your marketing campaign could be losing customers before they reach checkout.

Consider a customer who receives a promotional email but can't identify the products because the images lack descriptions. They click through anyway, only to discover that the website doesn't work properly with their screen reader.

The campaign generated a click. It didn't generate a customer.

These barriers are easy to overlook when marketing teams focus on impressions, traffic, and conversions without examining accessibility.

Reviewing the full customer journey can reveal problems that traditional campaign metrics don't explain.

While organizations claim to be Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant in their marketing strategies, many don't incorporate accessibility into

Braille is a valuable reading tool, but it's not the right format for everyone with a visual disability.

Some people prefer audio, while others rely on screen readers or large print. Everyone has different needs and preferences.

During Blindness Awareness Month, we're reminding everyone that effective communication starts with a simple question: "What format works best for you?"

Learn why communication preferences matter in our blog post, Effective Communication is a Title II Responsibility.

Have you ever heard the term "effective communication"?

It may sound complicated, but the idea is pretty simple.

Effective communication means making sure someone can understand the information you're sharing.

For someone with a visual disability, that might mean receiving a document in braille, large print, audio, or an accessible digital format.

Effective communication came up in more than one session at this year’s National ADA Symposium. I heard it discussed in connection with digital access,

What does Section 504 mean for you? It could mean receiving a notice you can read independently or getting the support you need to participate in a covered program.

Section 504 protects qualified people with disabilities from discrimination in programs receiving federal financial assistance. Its reach includes education, employment, and access to services and information.

The format matters, too. A braille document won’t help someone who doesn’t read braille. Effective communication starts with the person’s needs.

Learn where Section 504 applies and what it means for access in our blog post, Section 504 Guide.

A disability doesn’t have to be visible to affect how someone reads, learns, concentrates, or communicates.

Section 504’s protections reach beyond what other people can see. The law addresses disability discrimination in covered programs, including education, employment, and services receiving federal financial assistance.

Have questions about who qualifies or what support may be available? Our latest blog post walks through the different settings and explains why individual circumstances matter.

Section 504 prohibits the denial of participation, or benefits, of any program or activity receiving federal funding based on a person’s disability.

AI can be an incredible accessibility tool. But it’s still one tool.

Someone might use AI glasses to read a flyer, an accessible PDF for private information, large print for easier reading, or audio when that works best.

The goal isn’t finding one tool that replaces everything. It’s having options that support independence, privacy, and choice.

See what we learned while exploring AI glasses and accessibility in our blog post, AI, Accessibility, and the Right to Privacy.

Would you want to send your private medical or financial information through AI just so you could read it?

Shirley uses AI glasses for plenty of things, but she’s drawn a clear line around sensitive information.

Accessibility shouldn’t require giving up privacy.

AI can be an incredible tool. It shouldn’t replace secure, accessible documents when privacy matters.

I recently had the pleasure of attending a training at Dogs Inc., where Shirley Tracy learned how to use her new Meta Ray-Ban AI glasses. I went into the
