Strawberry Banke is a great living history museum in Portsmouth, NH, about an hour away from Little House in the Maine Woods. Check out their July 4th celebrations!

Am I this hardcore? I am not!!! But I do like to travel with just a smallish backpack when possible (this summer--not possible). One on three-month long trip, I took just five outfits for each of the kids and myself, and I loved traveling that light! Anyway, I found this a fascinating idea and spent an embarrassing number of hours tracking down plus size wool clothes (and found some, made in NH!)

About an hour and fifteen minutes from our house is the strange (and somewhat spooky, in my mind) former farm that is now the Desert of Maine. I've always wanted to visit but never got around to it. Maybe this year!
