The visitor center has been reopened after being closed yesterday while work was completed to remove civil war era artillery shells embedded in the base of the O.T. Reilly Monument. One shell was still filled with black powder and two were suspected to still contain powder. We are awaiting a full report from the team of U.S. Marines, who removed the unexploded ordnance, for further details.

What an absolutely incredible gift! 😮

A huge thank you to our wonderful guests, Brenda & Terry, who surprised us with a copy of the historic Kurz & Allison Civil War lithographs. For the history buffs out there, Kurz & Allison were legendary 19th-century publishers famous for these massive, vibrant chromolithographs depicting major Civil War battles.

The detail and color on these are stunning. We can't wait to get them on the coffee table for everyone to enjoy! Feeling incredibly grateful for such thoughtful friends. 🖼️

: Remembering September 11. Today, we pause to remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the extraordinary heroes who ran toward danger twenty-five years ago. September 11 is now observed as Patriot Day and a National Day of Service and Remembrance. It stands as a powerful reminder of American unity, resilience, and compassion.

Hard at "work" in the garden this weekend! 🐶💦 Safe to say our extra helpers were way more interested in splashing in the pool and playing with the dogs than picking tomatoes. 🤣 I can’t say I blame our beautiful granddaughters—pool time always wins! ❤️
