The "Moose Alley" drive in northern New Hampshire is one of the best places in New England to spot wild moose. Stretching along Route 3 between Pittsburg and the Canadian border, this scenic drive winds through thick forest and quiet ponds where moose often feed at dawn and dusk. You’ll want to drive slowly and keep your camera ready...these massive animals sometimes appear right along the roadside. The area’s remote setting adds to the experience, with peaceful mountain views, crisp air, and a good chance of seeing other wildlife too. Perry, a miniature donkey who inspired the animated Donkey in Shrek, passed away earlier this year at age 30.

He was euthanized after a long struggle with laminitis, a painful hoof disease.

Perry lived most of his life in Palo Alto’s Barron Park Donkey Project, where animators often observed his mannerisms, head tilts, trotting, and eye rolls to help create the beloved character voiced by Eddie Murphy.
