Okay, I’ll be honest.
Figuring out how to make a trendy carousel for my weird little niche probably takes a professional about ten minutes. It took me probably four hours 😂
So…be nice to me. Actually, better idea, be nice to me by dropping a comment about something you’d add to this list. 👇🏽 Maybe it’s about white sheets, or checkout instructions…but humor me and play along! 🫶🏼
Here’s the thing, I was a nursing major. Yes it’s practically hospitality these days but it’s not marketing, not business, nursing. Zero classes in that to get a masters. Everything you see here, that’s me in mentorship groups and going down rabbit holes of Instagram courses that honestly fill my heart with a different kind of “joy” than the day to day systems, operations and guest communication.
And you know what, I’m having fun figuring it out in front of you, mistakes and all. It’s kind of like my evolution of hosting over the last six years. My attention to detail is way more on the forefront than is was in 2020. Design, guest experience, the home as it is lived through and enjoyed has always been important, but now it’s practically mandatory. And I can guarantee you I’m much harder on myself than I was when I first started (if that’s even possible).
And like Dolly said “You’ll never do a whole lot unless you’re brave enough to try!”
So fellow Hosts, what’s your version of the 4 star review for rain on their vacay? Guests, what’s the thing you wish all hosts would just do and even standardize?
Who knows, maybe this needs to have a part 2 🫠
