S.C.’s Big Rig Friendly RV Resort Invests in Major Upgrades
by Woodalls Campground Magazine August 31, 2026
Big Rig Friendly RV Resort, the only campground in South Carolina to hold a perfect Good Sam 10/10/10 rating, has completed a series of significant infrastructure upgrades this season. The improvements are aimed at strengthening the resort’s reputation as one of the top RV parks near Columbia, S.C., for big rig travelers, extended-stay campers, and traveling workers alike, according to a press release.
The upgrades include 11 newly renovated premium concrete RV sites, a brand new asphalt entrance road, and the addition of Ripple fiber internet service across the property.
“We don’t just want to be another stop off I-26 or I-77,” said Michelle Fleming, director of operations at Big Rig Friendly RV Resort. “We want campers pulling fifth wheels and diesel pushers to know that when they book a site here, they’re getting a resort that’s investing in the details that actually matter to them.”
11 Premium Concrete RV Sites Added to the Property
Big Rig Friendly’s site upgrades this season focused on expanding its inventory of full concrete pad RV sites, a feature that continues to set the resort apart from other campgrounds in the Midlands and greater Columbia area. The 11 newly upgraded premium sites join the resort’s existing lineup of 100-foot pull-through sites, giving guests even more options for large-rig parking, easy leveling and mud-free setup regardless of weather.
“Big rig owners know exactly what they’re looking for in a site,” Fleming said. “They want concrete, they want length, and they want to pull through without stress. These 11 new premium sites give us more capacity to serve that traveler.”
Brand New Asphalt Entrance Road Improves Access and First Impressions
Guests arriving at Big Rig Friendly this season are now welcomed by a brand-new asphalt entrance road, replacing the previous surface and significantly improving the arrival experience for RVs of every size.
“First impressions matter, especially when you’re navigating a 45-foot rig for the first time into an unfamiliar campground,” Fleming said. “A smooth, freshly paved entrance road might seem like a small thing, but for our guests, it sets the tone for the entire stay.”
Ripple Fiber Internet Brings High-Speed Connectivity to Every Site
Reliable internet access has become one of the top deciding factors for modern RV travelers, remote workers and traveling professionals choosing a campground. To meet that demand, Big Rig Friendly has partnered with Ripple to bring dedicated fiber internet service to the resort.
“Internet is no longer a nice-to-have at an RV resort; it’s a requirement,” Fleming said. “Between remote workers, streaming and our guests who need dependable connectivity for their jobs, Ripple fiber internet was one of the most requested upgrades we could make. It’s a game changer for how connected our guests can be during their stay.”
The addition of Ripple fiber internet strengthens Big Rig Friendly’s appeal to both traditional RV travelers exploring South Carolina and the resort’s base of contractors working project assignments near Columbia, many of whom rely on strong internet access to stay connected with family and manage work remotely during extended stays.
A Resort Built Around Guest Feedback
According to Fleming, all three upgrades were driven directly by requests and feedback from guests staying at the resort throughout the year.
“Every upgrade we make comes back to listening to the people staying with us,” Fleming said. “Whether it’s a camper who wants a longer concrete pad, a family who wants a smoother arrival day, or a contractor who needs solid Wi-Fi to get through a workday, we’re building this resort around what our guests actually need. That’s what keeps us the top-rated RV park in South Carolina, and we’re not slowing down.”
