As the online travel agencies continue to make changes that impact owners and have caused many to close down, I want to help educate those who love travel just a bit on BOOKING DIRECT vs ABNB/ VRBO.

Do you know the difference and are you aware of how much you will save by booking a property direct with the owner/ manager?
Here is what you will pay for a family of 4, for 3 nights at a nightly rate of $250 including taxes and cleaning fee...
DIRECT- $1036.95
Vrbo- $1162.39
Abnb- $1228.95
You could save up to $192 by BOOKING DIRECT!!!

I don't know about you, but I'm all about saving $$!!

***Tip of the day***
-Before you book a vacay, find the name of the cabin, house, owner or manager on the Abnb or Vrbo listing.
-Google that name and look for their direct booking website.
-BOOK DIRECT. You deal with the people who actually own and care about the place and you will not be paying the additional 12%-18% fees from the online travel agencies.

Whatever you do, DO NOT ask the manager or owner on the Abnb/ Vrbo sites if they can save you $ by booking direct!!!! We can get kicked off the platform if we say yes and try to direct them to our website. It will block out numbers if either party puts a phone # and flag our listing.

This is the standing water in the lower yard at the Cabin. Probably 3’. We could walk across the river in August!!! This is a crazy amount of water!!!

We went from extreme drought this summer to extreme flooding now in our little piece of mountain paradise! We are very fortunate that both the Lodge and Cabin are built up high! Here’s a pic from last night at 6pm and some from this morning at the Lodge….
Please pray for those that were evacuated and for the town as they navigate the extreme flooding.
