Today marks an important milestone for Playpark Hospitality as we officially begin the transformation of one of South Lake Tahoe’s most centrally located hotels into HiMark Hotel.

What was formerly a Holiday Inn Express is now entering a new chapter—one focused on reimagining what a hotel stay can be when it’s built around how people actually want to live and travel. Our goal is not just to renovate a property, but to rethink the role hotels can play in supporting healthier routines, more intentional travel, and a stronger connection to place.

HiMark Hotel will remain open throughout a multi-phase transformation, evolving over the coming years into a boutique, wellness-focused stay steps from Heavenly Village and Lake Tahoe. Each phase will bring new layers to the guest experience—from reimagined communal spaces to expanded wellness amenities and fully redesigned rooms.

Equally important to us is the impact beyond the property itself. Through Playpark Hospitality’s Stay With Purpose program, $4 from every reservation across our portfolio is directed to local nonprofits and community initiatives.

This model allows each stay to contribute directly to the communities we operate in, supporting organizations like the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe and future partnerships such as Clean Up The Lake

This transition represents more than a rebrand. It’s an investment in place, in people, and in a more thoughtful approach to hospitality—one where growth and community impact move together.

Excited to share that our General Manager, Brandon Crudup, was recently featured as an expert in Fodor's Travel article on hotel hygiene best practices!

With over a decade of hands-on experience in hotel operations—including training housekeeping teams and leading hygiene protocols—Brandon provided insights on maintaining clean, safe environments for guests.

The piece highlights common high-touch areas like mattress protectors and headboards, emphasizing proactive cleaning and barriers for peace of mind.

At Play Park Hospitality, Brandon oversees rigorous daily and deep-clean checklists to ensure these spots stay spotless—pulling furniture, inspecting protectors, and using hospital-grade disinfectants so our guests can focus on enjoying Tahoe, not worrying about the details.
