One of North Carolina’s tastiest spring festivals…the 4th annual NC Fried Apple Pie Festival kicks off in just one month in Sparta, North Carolina as one of the area’s best spring events! Held May 1 from 5:00–9:00 PM and continuing May 2nd at 9 AM at the Alleghany Fairgrounds, this free event celebrates the Appalachian tradition of fried apple pies with thousands made fresh by local groups. You can try all kinds of pies, from classic to creative, while also enjoying BBQ, Mexican food, funnel cakes, kettle corn, lemonade, ice cream, and more. The festival features live music, a baking contest, and an eating contest that always draws a crowd. Families will find plenty for kids, including bounce houses, obstacle courses, and games. Dozens of craft vendors line the grounds with handmade goods and treats. With food trucks, local vendors, and a laid-back small-town feel, it’s a fun and easy night out for all ages.
