This October 1–4, Chanco will be the gathering place for a weekend of faith, reflection, fellowship, and deepening your relationship with Christ.

Wednesday's Who? What? When? Where? Why?

Who? Everyone who would like to attend a Cursillo Weekend for the first time.

What? Cursillo Weekend #177 in the Diocese of Southern Virginia. "Cursillo" means short course and it is packed with experiences for living out the rest of your life of faith with a supportive community of people just like you.

When? October 1-4, 2026. Deadline for registration is September 15, 2026. Email us at [email protected] for more information.

Where? Weekend #177 will be held at Chanco on the James Camp and Retreat Center in Spring Grove, VA.

Why? To renew and deepen your relationship with Christ, build a supportive spiritual community, and learn practical ways to live out your faith every day.

This 🗓️ October 23–25, come back to where it all started. Share your favorite camp photos during registration and swap stories around the campfire on Friday night.

Join us Saturday for high ropes, ziplines, and boating on the James River. The evening kicks off an all-night pavilion celebration with games, live music, and performances from alumni Hunter Rhodes and Nathan Hoyt.

Dear Chanco Family, with the tornado warning issued we hastily got your children indoors and safe. Though the weather was not ideal that doesn’t we can’t have a good time.

What A Day! As we begin to wrap up this session, we have no intentions on just sitting idly by! We as a Chanco Family are going to continue to enjoy our time under the sun. We hope to see you campers again next year!

Don’t worry Chanco Parents, we are aware that Surry County is in flash floods alert but The Chanco on the James settlement is of a certain height above the river where this will not be a detriment to our ability to care for your children. Your children are dry and entertained as they cheer on their high-spirited counselors to be the best thumb wrestlers they can be!

We have moved camp inside today for the wildfires. But worry not parents we are still having an awesome time!
