🚨🎂 BIG OAKS BIRTHDAY ALERT! 🎂🚨
Who knows what tomorrow is?
It's none other than the birthday of TWO of Big Oaks' most valuable assets — Candi and Jim! 🎉🎉
Now, some people celebrate a birthday once a year. These two decided to celebrate on the same day, making it much easier for the rest of us to remember... and much harder for them to avoid all the attention!
While birthdays are a time for cake, presents, and reminding ourselves we're still younger than the Resort's oak trees, it's also a perfect time to recognize the amazing job both of them do all year long.
Candi somehow manages to keep the office running, answer countless questions, handle reservations, solve problems, juggle paperwork, calm the occasional crisis, and still greet everyone with a smile. We are fairly certain she possesses superpowers, though she continues to deny it.
Jim may not be here during the summer months, but don't think for a minute he's sitting around relaxing! He's already hard at work planning activities, events, and fun for our upcoming winter season. If you've enjoyed an activity at Big Oaks, chances are Jim had something to do with making it happen. Rumor has it he spends his summers searching for new ways to keep us entertained and finding fresh opportunities for Resort Family to laugh, compete, and create memories.
Together, they help make Big Oaks the special place we all love to call home.
So tomorrow we celebrate not only their birthdays, but also their dedication, hard work, and the countless hours they invest in making our resort successful.
Please join me in wishing Candi and Jim a very Happy Birthday! May this next year bring you good health, happiness, many accomplishments, and the ability to overcome whatever challenges come your way.
And remember, if you see either of them tomorrow, wish them a Happy Birthday. If you happen to see cake, please report its location to management immediately. 🍰😄
Happy Birthday, Candi and Jim! Thank you for everything you do for Big Oaks! 🎉🎈🎁🥳

date – Tuesday, 11:30 a.m.

Due to unexpected mechanical issues experienced by the power company, the work scheduled for the Resort Office was not completed this morning as originally anticipated.

Crews are currently working in the Key West area of the resort. If your power was interrupted earlier this morning, it should now have been restored. If you are in Key West and still had power throughout the morning, your power is either currently off or will be going off shortly as crews replace the next utility pole and wiring.

The power company plans to begin work on the Resort Office area tomorrow at 5:00 a.m. The good news is that this work should have minimal impact on sites throughout the resort, with only a possible interruption in portions of the Bahamas area. Power to the Resort Office is expected to be restored by approximately 10:00 a.m.

Tomorrow, crews will also continue working toward the end of the Key West section and into the back areas of the resort. The outage required for this work typically lasts about four hours. If you were not affected today in Key West, St. Kitts and Aruba, tomorrow will likely be your turn.

As always, the Windjammer and Resort Office will remain available for residents who need a cool place to work, relax, or enjoy the air conditioning. We have a generator to supply power to the Windjammer during the power outages in the St. Kitts and Aruba Section.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as this important infrastructure project continues. We will keep everyone updated to the best of our ability as new information becomes available.

Monday June 8th, Power Update:

Today the pole in Key West close to Tim's is being replaced, this should only affect the first 5 park model sites in Key West.

Tuesday, June 9th, power will be shut off throughout the entire Resort starting approximately 5:00a.m. to 10:00a.m. so if you count on an alarm clock waking you up make sure you use your phone.

Wednesday June 10th, Poles will be replaced in the Key West Section getting ready for change over on Thursday June 11th. At that time sections of Key West power will be interrupted starting around 8:00a.m. for approximately 3 hours.

After Thursday we will have power outages in smaller sections of the Resort, toward the end of Key West section to the Windjammer. We will again do our best to get information out to you early so you can make arrangements needed. This is expected to continue for the next 10 - 14 days.

During Power Outages, the power will be on in both the Resort Office (except tomorrow until 11:00 a.m.) and the Windjammer for your convenience to work, relax and enjoy the Air Conditioning.

Food and drinks are allowed in both the Resort Office Building (except the chapel area) and in the Windjammer.

The power company is not scheduled to do any work in the Resort on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Thank you for your understanding.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO BIG OAKS RESORT FAMILY & GUESTS
As many of you know, the power company is continuing its infrastructure improvement project throughout the Resort. We want to provide everyone with the most current information available.
MONDAY UPDATE
The Resort Office will be closed until 1:00 p.m. on Monday while work is being completed in the area.
Additionally, on Monday, the Key West section and all back sections of the Resort will once again experience extended power outages, with work expected to take place from approximately 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
After Monday, power interruptions are expected to be limited to smaller areas of the Resort. We will continue to keep everyone updated to the best of our ability as information is provided to us by the work crews.
During any power disruptions, the Resort Office Building (exception of next Monday morning) will remain available for residents and guests who wish to work, relax, charge devices, or simply enjoy a cool, comfortable environment. The Windjammer will also be available for your use whenever it is not affected by a power interruption.
Food and beverages are permitted in both facilities; however, no food or drinks are allowed in the Chapel area. As always, both buildings will remain smoke-free and vape-free environments.
IMPORTANT – TEMPORARY RV DUMPING RESTRICTIONS
Until further notice, please refrain from dumping RV holding tanks between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. We ask that all dumping be completed after 6:00 p.m. on those days.
Dumping is permitted at any time on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Please note that the Laundry Facility will be CLOSED this coming Monday.
We sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation as these necessary improvements are completed. The Resort Office will continue to provide updates as we receive additional information from the power company and work crews.
Please share with your friends and neighbors who are not on Facebook. Printed notice is also available in the Resort Office.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Thank you, Big Oaks Family, for your patience and understanding today as we experienced power outages while new electrical lines and utility poles were being installed throughout the resort.
We were informed this afternoon by the power company that work will continue for approximately the next 7–10 days as they complete this important project. The good news is that the most disruptive portion of the work is now behind us. However, over the coming days, power will be temporarily interrupted in various sections of the resort as crews continue their installation and upgrades.
Tomorrow, the power company will be working in the St. Thomas section, so residents in that area should expect power outages lasting a couple of hours at a time. We have also requested that the power company provide us with a schedule of the areas they expect to be working in for the remainder of the week so we can keep everyone informed.
Please understand that this project is a required compliance upgrade being completed by the power company, and Big Oaks has very little input regarding the timing or ex*****on of the work.
During any outages, both the Windjammer and the Resort Office Building will remain open for your use. Whether you need a place to work, charge devices, relax, or simply get out of the heat, you are welcome to utilize these facilities.
We will continue to post updates and information on the Big Oaks page as we receive it.
Thank you again for your continued patience, cooperation, and understanding as these improvements are completed.

Just a reminder the power to the Resort will be shut down Monday morning by 8:00a.m. (weather permitting) to replace electrical lines throughout the Resort

We've been told this should not affect the Resort Office Building and we are trusting this information from the power company to be factual.

Michelle Smith has volunteered to have the Resort Office Building open by 8:00a.m. for those working from home or those who just need a cool place to relax while the power is shut down.

Resort Restrooms and Laundry will be shut down during this time: asking nobody to use any water from our well while the power is down to avoid us having to drain the tank and go into a boil-water situation.

Again, please use no water from our well even if you are equipped with a generator during the power outage.

Those with RV Water tanks should fill their water tanks to pull water from during the power outage.

We are counting on your cooperation, hoping the power will be restored by 1:00p.m.

Thanks!
