Most mini excavator budget overages happen because of unforeseen delays. Not equipment selection mistakes.

We spend time upfront making sure the right machine shows up. The real cost drivers are things like discovering unmarked utilities or hitting unexpected clay layers.

Whats it gonna cost?

A customer called last week asking for our cheapest mini excavator rate. He wanted to save money on stump removal.

Before you rent a dozer for root work, understand what job you actually need to accomplish

The biggest disaster with dozers doesn't come from the machine being too small.

It comes from using it beyond its intended scope.

I've seen hydraulic cylinders bent and broken which = $1000's in repairs. Same reason every time.

Customer used the corner of the blade to remove large stumps.

Exactly what I told them not to do.

The 550K dozer is built for root raking and finish grading. Not stump removal.

For serious stump work, you need an excavator.

The LGP tracks on the 550K give you good flotation in sandy soil.

But they won't save you from operator error.

Stay within the machine's limits and it'll handle most root raking jobs just fine.

Push beyond them and you're looking at expensive repairs.

Whats right for you comes down to your goals.

The wrong one will make success less likely.

Backhoes can dig and move material.

Excavators are specialty digging machines.

Backhoes are multi use tools but sacrifice efficiency.

Trackhoes are efficient diggers. Compact track loaders are efficient material movers.
