Baby goats are amazing! This little guy was born with weak and deformed hind legs. He was unable to stand to nurse, so we held him up to nurse every 4 - 5 hours around the clock. Fortunately his mother was unusually cooperative. Sometimes we held him up with a sling - hence his name, Slingshot. When Frank went out for a 4am feeding the second night, when Slingshot was about 30 hours old, he found him nursing on his own! His pasterns turned under so he was standing on his "knuckles" and his hocks would dislocate and bend forward, but he could still stand. I did stretching exercises on his legs and put co-ban wrap on to support his hocks and within a little over a week he was getting around in the stall quite well. Now at age 3 weeks he's running around the field keeping up with his brother and older kids, jumping up on things. You can barely tell that he has anything wrong with his hind legs!
