Wildwood’s Newsletter:
Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Nov 6 and Nov 7th.
Good Morning Everyone.
Ozark Mountain Daredevils
Two Nights Nov 6 and Nov 7th.
Many great seats are available for the Friday night show on November 6th. Seats are still available for Saturday night, but you'll need to buy a Standing Room Only ticket and ask for a seat on Arrival. Or stand around the bar area.
I hope to sell at least a few more seats. It is the Daredevils!!!
If you haven’t noticed, it is the Fall, and it is beautiful.
I won't lie to you, this year has been very difficult. The Spring Shows were basically a Disaster.
The Summer Season was fairly slow, and a few of these fall shows have had low sales. But the last 3 weekends and OMD have brought my faith back. Ricky was fantastic; Rock the Dock was amazingly fun. And Yonder was great; those boys can Jam, and they are just so Polite.
With my faith restored, I have been super busy getting a Very Cool 2027 lineup together.
A few new shows, some old Classics, and maybe a surprise or two...??
With that being said..
My Story.
I woke this morning to clear, crisp air and the rising sun. My legs and knees felt strong, and off I went with the old trustworthy walking stick. The fall season is my favorite by far. I also love walking during the winter months; believe it or not, I love the Freezing Cold for walking. There is something about the quality of the air. The fall sun angle, the tree colors, and the air I breathe while walking are just mind-clearing and refreshing to my soul and heart.
After a nice walk, I am not even close to the everyday 5 miles I walked for years, but I am building back up and hope to be at 2-3 miles by Spring. After my walk this morning, I drifted back to the lodge, went to the back porch, and enjoyed the River Valley views. The Old Maple's colors are nearing peak, and my memories of that tree on the corner of the pool are so strong. Kato dug it up out of the woods and planted it there so many years ago. I just sat there.
"Bob, what are you thinking?"The Grand Old Lady asked.
"I guess a lot of different things, my Lady. " I replied
"It's a beautiful morning this fall, is it not? " she replied.
"Yeah, it is. I’ve had so many customers tell me the past few weekends that they read my stories.
I am so honored and honestly humbled. I write how I feel, and I love everyone so much for coming to be with us; To listen to live music, and maybe they too can escape the stresses life gives us." I replied.
"Bob, I was born in 1922 after the Great War in Europe, by a man with a Dream. I was given this location because of the views. And for the freshwater spring below. I have lived through the Bankruptcy, the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, World War II, the Korean War, the 60s, the 70s, and Vietnam. I have lived through so much, yet these last 35 years of live music and couples coming from all corners of the earth have given me Hope and Faith." she replied with a crack in her voice.
"Remember those crazy Australians that came to the very first Daredevil weekend? We had to add a Thursday night, and they arrived on Thursday and came on Friday." There were about 20 of them. Man, could they party!!! I smiled in reply.
"Yes, they could party." What about Steve hitting those first few notes of " If you want to get to heaven " on the harp? And everyone just stood up and started Stomping and Dancing. That might have been the longest version of that song ever played; Steve just kept on Harping.
I can even feel it today in my old bones, but what an experience that was. "The Grand Old Lady happily replied with strength and a moralization of the evening in her voice for those who were there.
“We have been blessed, my Lady; we have been blessed, evenings with America, Little River Band, Marshall Tucker, and all the wonderful musicians. Even the “Yonder Mountain” fellows said this past weekend, "There is nothing like this place; she is one of a Kind," and you are, my Lady. You are one of a Kind, with a view and my Heart and Soul. " I replied as I walked away..
I looked back at the dining room windows as I walked away and just took a deep breath...
She is so beautiful.
Love to All.
Bob
See you Nov 6 and 7th..
