Our Memorial Day isn’t about 🏕️ camping, BBQ’s 🍗 or an extra day off, but I’m quite sure those brave men & women who sacrificed for our freedoms 🇺🇸
would WANT YOU to enjoy them!
To spend time together,
Enjoy a cold 🍻 beer,
Hit the beach 🏖️
watch kids get to be kids 🏈
and talk about life.
Do all those things. Soak it in.
All while keeping the history of Memorial Day
and teach our kids its meaning:
To honor the brave men & women who
Died for our freedoms.
Memorial Day was originally called “Decoration Day” dating back to 1868.
May was chosen because it was a time
of all things in-bloom;
the snow had melted in northern areas allowing their growth,
so finding flowers 🌺 🌼
to adorn the graves of fallen hero was possible.
Military recognition long standing
fell on May 30th. In 1971 Congress renamed Decoration Day to Memorial Day and moved it to the last Monday of the month.
As you see a flag on post,
see a Veteran with their branch hat on,
or see this picture of 8 year old Christian Golczynski choking back tears receiving his Marine fathers flag,
teach your kids the founding & traditions of
Memorial Day 🇺🇸 and thank a Veteran for their service!
