Fall's about to hit its stride around here. 🍂

Blog post is up with 4 easy, pet-friendly things to do on a fall cabin weekend — an easy hike at Hunt Hill, the Stone Lake color tour, a couple river/woods trails, and just sitting on the dock with coffee watching the color come in.

First two weeks of October is the sweet spot, second week is usually peak. Still have some mid-week dates open then if you want fewer cars on the road and the lake basically to yourselves.

"This was our second time staying at Cattail Cabin and we had an amazing time. The cabin is perfect for our family of 5 – comfortable beds, plenty of space, and fully stocked with anything you might need. The true gem is the lake – we mostly had it to ourselves and did a LOT of fishing, kayaking, and boating (after coffee on the dock). Brad was also a great communicator before, during, and after our stay. We can't wait to come back again!"

Repeat guests are the best kind of guests. Glad the lake delivered again, Shannon — can't wait to have your family back.

"We've had a great experience staying at these cabins and have returned multiple times over the past four years! It's set up really well for two families—four adults and four kids—with plenty of space for everyone. The kids especially love sleeping in the loft.

We love being right on the lake and really appreciate having kayaks and other lake toys available to use. On our most recent visit in august 2026, we also had great luck fishing, catching multiple good-sized bass right off the dock!

It's also a short drive into Hayward for a fun day in town, including the always-popular candy shop. A wonderful cabin experience and a place we look forward to returning to!"

"This cabin rental has been the best experience I have ever had. From great customer service to an absolutely beautiful, clean cabin with so much room for a big group. We enjoyed the kayaks, quiet small lake, campfires every night with plenty of seating. Extremely comfortable beds, with clean white crisp sheets and fluffy pillows. It was the first time I didn't miss my own bed! Hoping to make this an annual vacation spot. Thank you so much O'Connell Cabin Co for making my 60th birthday celebration the perfect spot to rent with girlfriends. Memories made!"
