We keep getting comments on our cabins like "the pictures don't do them justice", which we took as a compliment to the cabins, without thinking maybe Janine's phone camera photos suck. Sooo, we got professional photos and videos made, and we think they're fantastic! Behold the pool video:

August 14th we had our first hail storm since moving here eight years ago, and it punctured our gazebo roof at Huntress Cabin. The roof was polycarbonate plastic, and 6 years old, so we pit-crewed a bitchin' new metal roofed gazebo in two days! This one will (hopefully) last way longer!

Our virgin female goat "Spooky" started spontaneously lactating. And you thought you had problems!

Tim and I finished the pool fencing! Still hashing out the sod vs. grass seed issue in the back, but BOY, is it pretty out there! Ready for our awesome guests, for sure!

Kicking butt on our new pool area! The pool is nearly ready, but we still have some hardscape, landscape, fencing and gazebos to put in. The timber frame bathroom block is well on its way, courtesy of the timber frame class (that Tim took) at the . It promises to be a relaxing retreat!

We're doing the Family Forest Carbon Program AND this year, we're creating a conservation easement on our property, in perpetuity. Viva la Planet Earth! 🌎

If you’ve been looking for a way to care for your woods while also creating reliable income, let us introduce you to the Family Forest Carbon Program, now open to landowners with 30+ acres in New York.

Families like the Van Normans are already reaping the benefits of this program, showing what’s possible for landowners in New York. The program, led in partnership by The Nature Conservancy and the American Forest Foundation, provides landowners with a guaranteed annual payment and pairs you with a professional forester to help you improve the long-term health and resilience of your forest.

Get paid to contribute to a healthier planet for future generations. Learn more: familyforestcarbon.org

Not a landowner? Send this to someone you know who is! Help us spread the word. https://www.forestfoundation.org/what-we-do/family-forest-carbon-program/

It doesn't look like much yet, but our timber frame bathroom block that Tim worked on at (and we subsequently bought) has arrived. Once our concrete pool skirt is in, we're going to rock and roll trying to get this and everything else done by Memorial Day. Wish us luck!!

We're back from winter break! Looking forward to this upcoming season! For the month of March, both cabins are reduced price ($200/night).

Our newly-installed in-ground, heated pool will be ready by June 1st, hopefully earlier! (The pool will be ready; we still have hardscape to do).

We've spent most of winter making pool pavers to mix in with the boring Home Depot pavers that will surround the pool. It's a nice way to use up old tiles and whatnot (mostly whatnot) in an artistic way. We had a little helper helping us too! 🤗🐈 See you soon!
