🍁 Hello, September! There’s Something Special About Fall in Stowe. 🍎

Summer may be winding down, but one of the most beautiful times of year in Stowe is just beginning. The first hints of fall are starting to appear, and before long, the Green Mountains will be transformed with the colors of the season.

Looking for a great reason to visit Stowe this September? The Homegrown in Vermont Music Festival returns to Spruce Peak on Saturday, September 5, for a full day of nonstop live music featuring 20+ Vermont artists!

Set against the beautiful backdrop of Mount Mansfield, the festival brings together some of Vermont’s best homegrown talent across the WhistlePig Pavilion and Acoustic Tent. The day culminates with Ryan Miller of Guster & Freeway Clyde performing a special reimagining of Tom Petty’s Wildflowers. 🎸

The Vermont Pumpkin Chuckin’ Festival was awarded USA Today’s best fall festival in the nation. The festival celebrates the sport of “chuckin” pumpkins for distance using a do-it-yourself constructed trebuchet, which is a gravity-powered catapult. The event is a great opportunity for individuals, teams, and people of all ages to build something with their hands and engage in some family-friendly competition. The current record is 861 feet!

The Stowe Recreation Path is an internationally recognized greenway stretching from Stowe Village to Top Notch Resort on the Mountain Road. Residents and guests alike enjoy the 5.3 mile paved trail as it criss-crosses the West Branch of Little River. Breath-taking mountain views and access to restaurants, lodges and local businesses make the bike path one of the most popular recreation assets in Stowe.

There's still some summer left, and Stowe is filled with many hidden nooks and crannies for you to discover, including little hikes, amazing viewpoints, and of course, spots to swim in! Come visit and discover them all!

Stowe’s swimming holes are a refreshing way to get out and explore the area on a summer day. There are several places to pull over along the Stowe Recreation Path for a swim in the West Branch River. If you’re looking for the picturesque Vermont waterfall, try Brewster Ridge Gorge or Jeff Falls through Smugglers’ Notch or the West Branch River at Stowe Land Trust Mill Trail Property. Just short drive outside of the center of Stowe are the Waterbury Reservoir with access to rentals, Lake Elmore and Bootlegger’s Basin in Smugglers’ Notch, which is open to public swimming in the evening.
