π« BURN BAN IN EFFECT FOR SOUTH GEORGIA π₯
The Georgia Forestry Commission has issued a temporary burn ban for 91 counties, including McDuffie County, due to worsening drought conditions and increased wildfire risk.
βΌοΈ Effective immediately
π Duration: 30 days (through May 22, 2026, unless extended)
What this means:
-No outdoor burning of any kind
-No yard debris or leaf pile burning
-No agricultural or prescribed burns
-No burn permits will be issued during this time
Nearly all of Georgia is currently experiencing moderate to exceptional drought conditions, and even a small spark can quickly lead to a dangerous wildfire.
