🚫 BURN BAN IN EFFECT FOR SOUTH GEORGIA 🔥

The Georgia Forestry Commission has issued a temporary burn ban for 91 counties, including McDuffie County, due to worsening drought conditions and increased wildfire risk.

‼️ Effective immediately
🗓 Duration: 30 days (through May 22, 2026, unless extended)

What this means:
-No outdoor burning of any kind
-No yard debris or leaf pile burning
-No agricultural or prescribed burns
-No burn permits will be issued during this time

Nearly all of Georgia is currently experiencing moderate to exceptional drought conditions, and even a small spark can quickly lead to a dangerous wildfire.

⚠️ We urge all residents to take this seriously and do their part to help prevent wildfires.

3. Slice the peel of the banana from stem to bottom, while slicing the banana inside lengthwise. The bananas can be cut into slices instead if you like, (while still in the peel) for easier handling later.

👻 The spirits were high and the decorations were spooktacular at Big Hart Campground's annual Halloween decorating contest! 🤩 A huge thank you to everyone who put in the effort—you truly transformed the campground into a thrilling, chilling spectacle.

We want to give a huge shout-out to some amazing volunteers who made a big difference at Big Hart Campground! 👏

First, a massive thank you to Kenneth Daniel for all his hard work. He helped with site preparation, resurfacing, and cleanup at the day park. He also made some much-needed drainage improvements and fixed up the group site drive. 👷‍♂️

We also want to recognize the Knights of Columbus Council #8495 out of Grovetown for their outstanding work. They took on a huge project, pressure washing, repairing, and repainting the bathhouse and pavilion at the Big Hart group site. 🧼 They even helped with some much-needed tree work! 🌳 As Peter Elliott said, they're "giving back to Big Hart and paying it forward for future campers."

Thank you to everyone who pitched in! Your dedication helps keep our parks beautiful for all to enjoy. ❤️

Big Hart Day Park will be closed Monday June 23rd 2024 and Tuesday June 24th 2025 for minor renovations. Sorry for any inconvenience. Stay tuned for updates.

Big Hart was excited to have another great day with our McDuffie County Seniors. We had a great turn out of 77 people with the McDuffie County Senior Center and Georgia DNR(MEEC).
