El Vado Lake is open to the public again and is allowing boating, swimming, fishing, and camping on the lake. I have the campground on the river below the lake and am hoping to have more campers now that the lake is up some. I have lots of rafters that launch from our place, and am looking forward to having more campers than the last 3 years with the work that was being done on the dam. They are still doing some minimal work on the lake, but it is open for visitation. Call early if you are wanting to reserve the upper half of the campground for your group or family. 575-588-9211.

I want to let people know that my campground on the Lower Chama River below El Vado Lake has been/and is open year round, despite the work being done on the El Vado Dam since last year. Rafting is still going on. The river has been muddy because of lowering the lake, but lots of people are still boating down the river. People camping this year has been slow, and I think it might be because they think I'm closed due to the construction on the dam. I am open for primitive camping. I do not have hook-ups for water or electric, so that's the charm of the place, so please come for a visit and enjoy the area. Please share so people know that I am open for business. I charge $20 per night per vehicle or space. I do take reservations for 1/2 the campground for family reunions, weddings, large groups, etc. I still have some weekends available for larger groups this summer. I do not reserve individual spots. It is basically on a first come- first served basis. My phone number is 575-588-9211 if you would like to check availability. Thank you so much and I hope to see you sometime.

Rafting has resumed here at the Ranch. I am allowing fires in a fire pit only. No open fires allowed still. We have had some rain and hope to get more. Have a safe 4th of July. Absolutely no fireworks allowed here on the Ranch.

The primitive campground is open this year. The only fuel being allowed for campers is propane. I am still asking $20.00 per site or vehicle. The work on the dam has begun, so the road across the dam is closed from 9:00am to 7:00pm on M-F.

Starting in 2021, the fee for overnight camping will be going up to $20.00 a night, per vehicle or space. Due to the Covid situation, I may be limiting the number of people or vehicles in each group. Open fires are not allowed at this time. We have no snow so far and the drought is extreme in our area. This hopefully will change, if we get some moisture. Thank you for your patronage and I hope to see you all in the new year!

This guy caught this a few weeks ago. They said it was a walleye. I've never seen a walleye before. The fishing has been good for quite a while now. The campground is full on the weekends, and slower during the week. This has been the busiest summer I've had. People tell me they are having a hard time finding any campground that is open, due to the covid. The people who reserved the upper half of the campground have not paid their deposit yet, so I may take their name off and open it up again. Randy Baca, if you see this, call me.

We finally got some good rain so I have lifted the fire ban. Please bring your own wood. I've already had people break off branches from the trees and burn slats from my spools that I use as tables. If I see any of this happening, you will be asked to leave immediately. Please respect the property. Thank you
