In the little mountain town of Helen, Georgia you can ride the “Georgia Mountain Coaster” through the surrounding mountainous area for one of the most fun and scenic experiences in North Georgia! This alpine-style coaster sits within walking distance of downtown Helen, right along South Main Street, and gives you a mix of mountain views, forest scenery, and a little thrill as you glide along the steel track. The ride begins with a climb up the hillside before your cart starts its downhill run through the trees, curves, dips, and turns. The best part is that you control the speed yourself with the hand controls, so you can take it easy and enjoy the view or let it move faster for more excitement.
Each cart can hold one or two riders, with the driver seated in the back and the passenger in front, and riders must meet the height, age, and weight rules before getting on. It is also known as Georgia’s first and only mountain coaster, making it a standout stop in Helen. Along the ride, you can see wooded slopes, parts of town below, rooftops, nearby roads, and the mountain setting that makes Helen such a popular getaway. The ride lasts just under two minutes, but it packs in plenty of scenery and fun. It is open year-round, including holidays, as long as the weather and maintenance allow, though storms, high winds, heavy rain, hail, or unsafe conditions can close it.
Current listed tickets are $17 for ages 13 and up, $14 for ages 7–12, and $10 for ages 3–6. Listed hours are Sunday from 10am–7pm, Monday through Thursday from 10am–6pm, Friday from 10am–8pm, and Saturday from 10am–9pm. Whether you ride slow or fast, the Georgia Mountain Coaster is one of the best little adventure stops you’ll find in Helen, Georgia.
