This is a great time to to be enjoying the Smoky Mountain Natl Park and the nature abundant there. Townsend Gateway Inn allows you great access to all of that because of their close location. Cades Cove is such a special place...the scenic views are incredible and the wildlife can often be seen around every bend, (Just remember to keep your distance from the wildlife...just enjoy the view). If you are planning to make your trip here soon, be aware of the annual restriction every Wednesday starting May 5 and through the summer. No motorized vehicles are allowed in Cades Cove on Wednesdays, which gives the walkers, hikers and bikers a safer way to enjoy it. So arrange your schedule to be there on Wednesdays if you will be walking or biking, but if you are driving, plan another day to see the Cove.
With Townsend Gateway Inn being a convenient place enjoy the rest of the area the other 6 days of the week, there is never a lack of fun things to do or see if hiking or biking is not your preference.
