A week. Seven paintings. No studio rent, no commute, no compromise.

If you're a creative who's been waiting for the right conditions to actually finish that body of work-this is what it looks like. Not inspiration p**n. Not a vacation that pauses your practice. Real, documented output born from a cottage studio where the only interruption is a mountain view asking to be painted.

The Peaceful Side of the Smokies isn't marketing language here. It's the difference between thinking about your work and doing it. Between dreaming about a residency and actually having one.

Your breakthrough doesn't need a fancy artist colony. It needs what Townsend Gateway Inn delivers: proximity, quiet, and a window that never stops teaching.

Book your artist residency.

Your best fishing days start here. The Little River is calling, and if you're staying with us, you're literally steps away from some of the most productive trout water in the Smokies. We've spent years learning these patterns-spring and fall are your sweet spots, early morning is your window, and a few simple catch-and-release practices (like wet hands and barbless hooks) mean you're not just catching trout, you're respecting the resource that keeps bringing them back.

Whether you're a seasoned angler or picking up a rod for the first time, our location gives you the advantage. No long drives to the good spots. No guessing about seasonal timing. Just you, the river, and the knowledge that you're fishing smart.

Ready to plan your fishing adventure? We've got cottages, suites, and rooms designed for anglers who want comfort after a day on the water.

These trails aren't hidden-they're just overlooked by everyone driving past Townsend to sit in park traffic. We've mapped out the best beginner and intermediate rides within 15 minutes of the inn because we know the difference a short commute makes: more laps, fresher legs, time to hit multiple trails in one weekend instead of one epic slog. Whether you're shaking off rust on Abrams Falls or tackling the tech on Laurel Creek, you're riding world-class terrain without the crowds. That's the advantage of basing yourself here-the Smokies' best-kept secret for mountain bikers who actually want to ride, not drive. Book your ride weekend and experience why proximity changes everything.

Public Service Announcement

Always call us directly at 865-238-0123 for the best rate. Non of the 3rd party sites can give you a better rate.

We had a new guest call us and told us they clicked on a link they thought was our website. They called the phone number listed (not our #) and it was an Expedia affiliate site. The agent lied and said they where TGI. This site charged them a non refundable fee of $20.00 to make the reservation. When she realized it was not us she canceled the reservation but did not recieve a refund for the $20.00.

I believe this trend is speading fast. Make sure you check the information on these sites.

If you are on our official site the address bar should begin with www.townsendgatewayinn.com if there is any additional text between inn and .com it is not us.
Example: www.townsendgatewayinn.room77.com is not our site. The www. is not required.

Don't pay more for your stay with us. Our prices are always lower than the booking sites and no fees to make, change or cancel* a reservation.

*A cancellation fee equal to 1 night is charged on a cancellation that is made less than 48hrs of your arrival date or if you are a no show.

If you have any questions give us a call at 865-238-0123.

We look forward to seeing you on you next visit to Townsend Gateway Inn.
