How cool is this?? A brand-new mountain bike trail is officially under construction right here in Traverse City!! 🚵🍂

The Northern Michigan Mountain Bike Association teamed up with Garfield Township to rebuild the well-loved "Secret Stash" route at the Grand Traverse Commons into a proper sustainable flow trail, and the community showed UP. The whole thing was funded through local donations and a crowdfunding push that even earned a matching grant through the MEDC's Public Spaces Community Places program. Construction started just this week!

This is what we love to see: local riders and volunteers building something everybody gets to come enjoy, right in town. Huge thanks to everyone who donated, dug in, or cheered it on 👏

While the new trail takes shape, the autumn riding around here is still going strong, if y'all want to get the legs spinning, our e-bikes are ready and waiting. See y'all out there!!

Ever wonder who's behind that perfectly groomed trail on your first ride of the season? It's not the state. It's volunteers!! ❄️🤟

All across Northern Michigan, snowmobile clubs are already working on the 2026-27 season. Brushing and signing trails, clearing downed trees, hosting landowner dinners to keep those private-land crossings open, and getting groomers serviced and ready. Michigan's 6,300+ miles of groomed snowmobile trails are run by 67 volunteer clubs, and ours are no exception.

Here's a tip for this winter: the Groomer Tracker app shows real-time GPS grooming, with color-coded lines for when each trail was last groomed. Check it before you head out and you'll know exactly what shape the trails are in. Some clubs even get a share of the app's subscription proceeds, so it supports the crews too. 👍

So this season, when you're out there flying down a silky smooth trail... somebody gave up their weekend to make that happen. Give 'em a wave. 🤝

Ever wonder why the trails look wider and cleaner every fall before the snow flies? This is why!! 🍂

Right now, trail crews and volunteer clubs all over Northern Michigan are out brushing and clearing the ORV and snowmobile networks, cutting the corridors back to a uniform 12 to 14 foot width so the groomers can do their job this winter. The work runs through early November, and a lot of it is done by local club members who volunteer their weekends.

Here's the cool part: a lot of these brushing days are open to riders. Bring your own ATV or side-by-side, your gloves, and a good attitude, and you can pitch in on the same trails everybody gets to come up here and enjoy. 🤟

If a work day's not your thing, no problem -- just do us one favor. If you see crews or equipment out on the trail, slow down, give 'em room, and give 'em a wave. They're the reason we've got somewhere to ride.

Iceman weekend is coming!! 🚵‍♂️ Bell's Iceman Cometh Challenge hits Northern Michigan on Saturday, November 7, and it's the 37th year of this one. Riders roll 30 miles from Kalkaska to Timber Ridge, and thousands of them come in from out of town for it.

If y'all are racing or just coming up to cheer somebody on, welcome. We're glad you're here and we hope the legs feel good on race day! 🎉

And if you're not racing, you can still get out and ride that weekend. Fall color is fading but the roads and trails are wide open. E-bikes and Polaris Slingshots are both still available, and it's a whole lot easier than hauling your own bike up I-75.
