Weddings with distinction and style, surrounded by nature. Both the Cottage and Barn have been completely remodeled since June of 2016.

Oakleaf Cottage and Barn rest on 28 old growth acres on the side of Lookout Mountain, bordering Cloudland Canyon State Park. The Cottage is professionally decorated and sleeps 9. The Barn offers 1750 square feet of indoor event space, with a 900sqft deck on the sunset side. Three event lawn areas and numerous trails wind through the property. Contact us for more information! Cris have worked toward their dream of providing a special place for people to unwind, to reconnect with nature, to learn new skills. They found an unexpected, 27 acre setting in the late spring of 2016, and set to work. At present the Cottage sleeps 9. Future plans include remodeling the barn for learning seminars, musical meets (Celidh, pron. "Kay-lee") and events, and a small herd of special goats.

This weekend’s wedding had the perfect soft blue vibes for our first event of June! Pops of dark blue and mauve as accents.

Guests arrived via and were welcomed with a glass of champagne and the soft music by floating through the air. At the ceremony, the rings were passed among the guests for their blessings.

Cocktail hour was held on the courtyard and deck, with passed appetizers and drinks served by .co.catering

Music and dancing followed dinner, and Mark with always knows how to get and keep the party going!

In March, we tore up the front area of the barn to put in our long-wanted courtyard. Work here isn’t easy because of our mountain slope - we couldn’t get a concrete truck to come up the driveway this time.
So we had to mix it with the attachment on our Bobcat, and pour it a little at a time. Several loads of rock, and sand, 80 bags of Portland cement, mostly two guys & one gal.
The weather doesn’t care about deadlines. About halfway along and a wedding approaching in 12 days… it snowed. SNOWED. We had a few hours of warm enough weather in the middle of the day to be working with concrete, but then had to create a makeshift heated tent to go over each new section as we got it done on the second half of the courtyard.
But she is done and she is pretty and we have LOVED seeing how it is used and enjoyed with each wedding this Spring.

T & J’s wedding was the sweetest — surrounded by great people, loving people. Rain came and went most all day, but cleared just in time for us to set ceremony chairs just before guests began to arrive.

The sunlight effect after rain is one of the best!

By wedding day, our little place and our team are already very familiar to you. You’ve met us multiple times along the way, visited for planning and design meetings, and met some of the team as they handle the weekly behind the scenes tasks that keep the place humming.

We have intentionally maintained a residential footprint for Oakleaf. Even small, 25-guest events don’t feel swallowed up. Every event location is easily walkable from one to the next, and guests often meander and wander to see what’s around the next corner.

This place is so calming. Being in the forest as we are, surrounded by nature, breathing in the scents of living green leaves and humus and yes sometimes petrichor…

Sometimes we just sit here, and look, and listen, and smell.

It’s good for us all to pause more.

Maybe that should be our mantra this week.

April is a month that changes exponentially for us from start to finish. We begin the month with tiny little baby leaves, emerging and by the end of the month we are fully green and leafed out. The forest changes daily, and every day there is a new bloom, more leaves, more green, more life springing out to be seen.

E + M’s wedding brought in all the glitz of Old Hollywood. Guests arrived in evening attire that brought in the glitter and glam, and the night was studded with performances, dance and joy.

The most challenging part of being an outdoor-centric venue is predicting weather. The tent and dining inside the barn were not part of our original plans, but weather apps all argued over how much, if any, rain we would get Saturday — and when. Vendors had chosen outfits that could get wet and dry quickly, and waterproof shoes because the early morning prediction said we’d be getting drenched all day.

It did rain… right after the red carpet send-off.

This beautiful Fall wedding, perfectly captured by and planned by caught the perfect moments of Fall in all its glory. While most of our weddings opt to have dinner indoors, we do offer dining al-fresco and never tire of how amazing it looks.

All of our weddings for Fall 2026 include Full or Partial wedding planning with an outside professional, overnight in our Cottage, plates and glassware, bartending services, and a sizeable staff ensuring your day runs smoothly.

And the best part: all of our weddings are SUSTAINABLE. We tirelessly sort all waste from the wedding, recycling paper/cardboard, plastics, aluminum locally, and work with for glass recycling and for food waste to be turned into useable dirt later. We are proudly certified through
