"WORKIN 9 TO 5" TO BRING OUR COMMUNITY TOGETHER

There is an old irish saying may gramma told me that goes something like, "When a loved one passes you carry them on by living twice as full."

As we mourn this weeks tragedies here in Tucson, we also need to look forward to better days and to lift our spirits and foster goodwill as much as possible.

So in the spirit of Dolly Parton we are throwing a big pink rhinestone encrusted party at Trail Dust Town on Friday September 25 (9-2-5)! It will be one of the biggest events in our 15 year history and we are inviting the entire Arizona LGBT+ community and our allied friends to join us:

Featuring a G3 happy hour starting at 5PM we will then be kicking up our heals all night in the Savoy Opera House, their country western themed ballroom. We will also have the courtyard gazebo area roped off for us to enjoy the night air and we've arranged for everyone who attends will be given free tickets to ride the choo-choo train as well as take a spin on the carousel -- how gay is that! Everyone is encouraged to dress up in our signature colors of blush and bashful, we will have red velvet armadillo cake and a big prize for the winner of our "Hairdoo Hall of Fame" contest!

There is free parking and we will be rolling out more info in the coming days. SO MARK YOUR CALENDAR AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS TO GET READY!

Just a reminder that, out of respect for the victims of this weeks tragedy and our friends passing, G3 has been postponed until next week where we will be celebrating the growing q***r sports scene here in Tucson.

We feel it is appropriate come back more determined than ever to support our community and, since it is 9/11, we will be remembering those lost to hate here and around the world with a moment of silence and reflection at 7PM.

CHANGE OF DATE:

Several of us on the G3 Team were friends of the men who were killed Sunday at The Venue N and out of respect for the victims, their friends, families and loved ones --- and our community that is shaken --- we have decided not to hold G3 this Friday as planned but to postpone for a week to allow all of us some time to heal.

Even though we are grieving and angry and saddened we also feel strongly that our community must not give in to hate or allow ourselves to be intimidated or forced to hide back in our closets, so we are moving ahead full steam with our plans to celebrate our community the following Friday, September 11 at BLOCK A.

A PERSONAL NOTE FROM PETE

I am familiar with the feeling of grief one feels after losing someone to hate. September 11th has personal significance for me because I lost someone dear to me that day, my boyfriend Mark Bingham, who died a hero on United Flight 93 that went down in Pennsylvania.

LGBT+ people are all too familiar with discrimination and hate and prejudice, but part of our strength lies in the fact that we are able to respond with renewed care and support for each other.

SO WE INVITE THE COMMUNITY TO "HANG OUT WITH US" IN THE SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AND OF TOLERANCE AND OF LOVE OF LIFE . . . Next Friday, September 11 at BLOCK A.

THE EVENT

BLOCK A is a fantastic new sports bar that has just opened in downtown Tucson and we are excited to bring the community together for a special G3 Gay Happy Hour celebrating our growing LGBT community sports scene!

With an upscale industrial vibe, BLOCK A features massive state-of-the-art video walls and a killer sound system, innovative bar and dining options and an open air patio that opens up to views from their 4th and Congress location of the Rialto Theater and Hotel Congress.

We are inviting our local sports groups to have info tables set up info tables from 5-7PM during our cocktail hour when we play lounge music so everyone can chat and then from 7-10 we are gonna let our DJ loose!

BLOCK A has a full service bar (not just ordinary bar drinks) and will offer Blood Orange Margaritas along with well, beer, wine and NA options with your G3 drink ticket you get at the door with entry.

Everyone is encouraged to wear sporty wear or team jerseys if you got 'em.

G3 shares in the grief surrounding the tragic violence and senseless loss of life that occurred last night at The Venture N.

In the coming days we will surely learn more about what has happened, but in response a community vigil honoring the victims is being held on Wednesday evening starting at 6:30PM at Catalina Park, located on 4th Av at 1st Street.

We send our condolences to the families and loved ones of those lost and call for a more loving, more peaceful and more tolerant world.

Well true to form, if there is a G3 it's gonna rain!

Close to 200 braved the downpour to hang out with us last night at Sky Bar and I want to especially thank Tony, the owner of Brooklyn Pizza and Sky Bar plus our fantastic team: Rolland, Noe and Brian at the Welcome Desk, Curt and Rick for showing up to help, Shorty for the great music and Mary who delivered pizza better than any Uber driver I know!
