A Mayo Hotel Love Story, 84 Years in the Making
If you've visited The Mayo Hotel over the past seven years, chances are you've met Coree. Whether assisting at banquets, serving guests at The Mark Coffee Shop, or helping create memorable dining experiences at 1925, Coree has been a valued member of The Mayo Hotel family.
Recently, Coree shared a remarkable story with us, one that connects her family's history to The Mayo Hotel in a truly special way.
On June 6, 1942, Coree's grandparents got married and spent their honeymoon night at The Mayo Hotel in downtown Tulsa. Eighty-four years ago, they checked into the hotel as newlyweds. Their original receipt from that stay was carefully preserved over the years, and recently, Coree gifted this historic keepsake to The Mayo Hotel.
On June 6, 2026, that story came full circle.
Coree married her husband, John, and the newlyweds chose to spend their honeymoon night at The Mayo Hotel. What started as a romantic chapter in her grandparents' love story has now become part of her own. From grandparents to granddaughter, from 1942 to 2026, the tradition of beginning a marriage at this iconic Tulsa landmark lives on.
As Coree and John begin this exciting new adventure together, we wish them a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and happiness. May their marriage be as enduring, beautiful, and inspiring as the legacy that brought them back to where it all began.
