Today, all of us at Hotel Tybee pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Because of their courage, families are able to gather, laugh, make memories, and enjoy the freedom we often take for granted. As we celebrate this Memorial Day weekend on the shores of Tybee Island, may we never forget the heroes who gave everything for America. Memorial Day Weekend on Tybee Island has officially turned into a HUGE party. The beach is packed. Both pools are filled with the most awesome guests. Oasis Tiki Bar is serving the best drinks on the island. The splash pad looks like a tiny human water park riot. We are celebrating two guests' milestone birthdays at the hotel tonight. THANK YOU to everyone who is spending the holiday weekend with us at Hotel Tybee and on beautiful Tybee Island. Watching families, friends and kids living their absolute best lives is always a blast. And we’re not done yet…not even close.

BREAKING NEWS FROM THE EDGE OF THE OCEAN: KARAOKE IS OFFICIALLY BACK this Saturday in the Grandview Event Center at Hotel Tybee. That’s right…From 9AM to MIDNIGHT, the microphones will once again be handed over to:
• people with actual talent (questionable)
• people with “confidence” (truth)
• someone’s aunt performing three straight Cher songs (hope not)
• and at least one guy absolutely destroying Bon Jovi after two beach cocktails. (really hope not)
This is not just karaoke. This is a full-scale musical hostage situation and we want YOU there.

- Bring the courage to sing like nobody’s listening…even though unfortunately everyone is.

MY WEEKLY "SAVE OUR SWINGS" SOCIAL MEDIA POST: We need to have an uncomfortable conversation (again). At some point over the last few years… we all just accepted the fact that our beloved beach swings were disappearing. And honestly? That’s on us. We got distracted. Life happened. Gas prices went up. And while we were busy surviving adulthood… the swings quietly vanished.
But not anymore. Because Tybee without beach swings feels wrong. Like shrimp without cocktail sauce.
Like Pirate Fest without bad decisions. Like a beach vacation where nobody says, “Let’s go sit on the swings for a minute,” and suddenly three hours disappear. Those swings weren’t just wood and rope.
They were:
• First dates
• Family photos
• Deep life conversations
• Accidental naps
• The background of half the memories we made on this island
A few swings are still hanging in there… fighting for their lives like tiny wooden freedom fighters. But they need reinforcements. So once again, we ask the community, local leaders, beach lovers, sunset watchers, and people who dramatically stare at the ocean pretending they’re in a movie:
HELP US SAVE THE SWINGS!!!
We will not rest. We will not be silent. We will not stop posting until Tybee is swinging again.

The kids are almost out of school. The Splash Pad is open. The beach is perfect. And the 10-day forecast is basically one long resignation letter to productivity. Honestly… if you continue sitting in an office while this weather is happening, that’s on you. So we’re making bad decisions even easier:
Sunday–Thursday stays are now 20% OFF at Hotel Tybee.
Take the kids out of school one day early. Call in “under the weather” while laying directly IN the weather. Answer one email from a beach chair just so you can technically say you worked remotely.
- The splash pad is running.
- The ocean is warm.
- The sunsets are ridiculous.
And somewhere right now, a stressed-out parent is staring out a window whispering,
“I was not built for spreadsheets in 82-degree sunshine.” Book now. Ask forgiveness later. Or better yet… post beach pictures and let your boss find out naturally.
