New on the blog: "Three Birds" — a short love letter to sunsets and the little moments that stop time. Read about the urge to step outside, snap another photo, and feel grateful for the sky's endless variety. Read more: https://wix.to/gTc2xRB

My siblings will be the first to tell you of my addiction to sunsets. I’ll be in the middle of a conversation, but then must have a commercial break, when I dart out of the room and head outside to check out the setting sun and the clouds. They are awe inspiring. It is the book ends of our days that give me pauses and gratitude for what the Earth shares. I wake up and look out my window and no, even though it’s 502. It’s time to witness the changing light before the sunrise. Today, on a day that was mostly rainy and socked in, I sit on the porch and watch the sun go down. Late in the day, the skies lightened and the clouds gave way to clear blue sky. The Brooke, the constant sound interrupted only by the birds welcoming the day or bidding it good night. The birds on the weather vein turn, the Cambell silent, both bearing witness to the closing of the day as the sun sinks lower to the horizon of the Macomber range. The air noticeably chills, even before we lose the sun. While there are millions of peaceful places on this earth, this is the one that has stolen my heart. /sunset

It has come to my attention, that my blog post about the Bogue School, was timely indeed. Word on the street is that the old school house is to be torn down this summer. Another piece of history vanishing.
