Two brothers growing up together getting stronger each day that there dad teaching them. Phoenix and Ryder are so much like Steven and Shane who grew up together. Shane is gone he was killed by Drunk driver 13 years ago. He would have been proud of Steven today showing his boys how to overcome there fears in life. These 2 young boys 10 and 7 were amazing doing this tree climb in the Atlanta Zoo. Steven is a great single parent. I am so proud of him. He as a parent far exceeds anything I did as a parent.love my son

This is my 10 year old grandson Ryder who is a amazing young man. Steven took us to The Atlanta zoo today. This tree thing is amazing and what a great way to teach young men to be strong and overcome there fears. It was a fun time and Steven and I had a amazing trip going to the Atlanta ball game and doing several things together with his two sons and my grandsons. Been awhile since I had this much fun. The boys were amazing

My grandson Phoenix and Ryder did the TREE WALK in Atlanta Zoo. I wish we had started them several years ago but Phoenix is 7 and he did every walk along with his 10 year old brother. They had a good size crowd watching them doing this. People were amazed. Building young boys to be strong and confident is something there father believes in. He works hard with his sons everyday. I was proud to take this trip to Atlantic with my son and grandsons.

I have to build me one of these great adventures. This was at the Atlanta and my grandson Ryder was amazing. Phoenix was also amazing and did everyone of the walks. Steven has done some great things for his two son this is just one thing.

I believe that children can be taught to face there fears. I raised Steven and Shane to have no fear but attack life. Well Steven is teaching his boys the same thing. Today we made huge progress with both boys on the Tree walk at the Atlanta Zoo. Enjoyed seeing how Ryder over come his fear. God is good

Every day with Grace Payne was a gift to everyone who had the honor of knowing her. She had an ability to immediately connect with people and to light up any room she entered. She lived an active life, enjoying running, cross country skiing and, perhaps most of all, time with her dogs.
Grace was a successful entrepreneur, owning her own consulting business in the petroleum industry. She is survived by her husband, Joe Payne. Together they were enjoying retirement in Madison County, NC, which they had called their home for many years.
Grace died on July 30, 2022, surrounded by loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Irene Gross. She is survived by her stepsons, Bob (Marsha) and Dennis (Stephanie) Payne; brothers Mike and Jim Gross; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 beginning at 2:00 PM at Broyhill Chapel at Mars Hill University, 265 Cascade Street, Mars Hill, NC 28754. In honor of Grace’s love for fresh cut flowers, the family requests that attendees bring a favorite stem flower. In lieu of traditional floral displays, please consider donating in Grace’s memory to the Madison County Animal Shelter, 389 Long Branch Road, Marshall, NC 28753.
