Roan Creek Campground

We have had many guests that have inquired about the progress of repairing the campground after Helene. It has been a daunting task that will continue for some time yet. Most of the debris has been removed and we continue working on repairs to the Trapper Shack and bathhouse The Mountain View had minimal damage and is the only availability that we will have for this summer. Any guests wanting to make a reservation can e-mail for availability. We will not be listed on AIRBNB. We would love to have guests in the Mountain View that understand the situation we are dealing with. Access to the campground is limited due to the temporary bridge that can be a bit intimidating to cross, but it is safe. Most guests knew that we had the campground up for sale before the hurricane and we still hope to put it back on the market, at a greatly reduced price now of course. We will not be able to open for RV guests this year but our hope is that by next year it will be in the hands of someone that can bring it back to the beautiful place that it once was. Thanks to those who have helped in the clean up and have encouraged us to continue.

It has been a difficult recovery since Hurricane Helene hit our area over two months ago. The devastation has been hard to comprehend and Roan Creek Campground received extensive damage. We have been forced to close our doors for an indefinite period of time and are not sure what the future may hold for the campground reopening. We were overwhelmed as we looked at the amount of work that would be required to even begin the process of cleaning up the debris. Fortunately for us we have had an amazing group of people that have rolled up their sleeves and given of their time and resources to help us in this difficult and extensive undertaking. Many of our guests that were themselves displaced have spent countless hours working at the campground. Others that do not know us or never experienced a stay at the campground have joined in the effort. Friends from our home town in North Carolina have given resources to help with not only our needs but the needs of others in our area. We have seen the very best in people coming to the aid of those who have lost so much. While we are not able to mention every name, we do want to let you all know how much you are appreciated. We can’t thank everyone enough for your hard work and sacrifice in helping us to return the campground to the beautiful place that it once was. We especially want to thank Linda Cassese for her tireless effort to not only help us but in helping so many others in our area.

We are heartbroken that our beautiful campground received extensive damage due the recent flooding. We are blessed to be safe and are praying for those who have lost their homes and even loved ones. We will not be taking reservations for the remainder of the season and will post updates as next season approaches. The restoration process will be a long one.
