Alberta holds the fourth-largest oil reserves in the world, anchored by its massive oil sands and active conventional exploration programs

Seems like everywhere you go up here you run into new or old oil rigs.

Pictured below is a new oil rig going in and we’re in a very rural area. They haul in all the housing for this huge crew of employees and engineers to live here while they are putting in these new oil rigs.

My guide told me that it costs about 1 million dollars per day for this crew to install this new oil rig. BIG money.

Logging is a huge part of the local economy as well.

A 9-year-old Idaho girl noticed her state didn’t have an official state sport, so she convinced lawmakers to make it hunting. Betty Grandy, a fourth grader from Twin Falls, came up with the idea while studying Idaho history and eventually helped push House Bill 652 through the state legislature.

Betty didn’t just suggest the idea. She contacted state leaders, testified before legislative committees and explained why hunting represents Idaho’s history, culture, conservation and wildlife-management traditions. The bill passed the Idaho House 63-0 and the Senate 34-0, with no lawmakers voting against it.

Gov. Brad Little signed the legislation into law, officially making hunting Idaho’s state sport beginning July 1, 2026. Idaho already constitutionally protects the rights to hunt, fish and trap, but thanks to one determined 9-year-old, it also became the first state in America to officially designate hunting as its state sport. I love to see kids representing hunting on this level.

Have 1 spot available for the last week of May and 1 spot available for the first week of June next spring for Alberta Bear.

It’s a great time. It’s a great way to introduce yourself to a Canadian hunt. Guranteed to see bears. Primo rut hunt dates.

I plan to be up here both weeks.

At a request from the Wisconsin DNR, a federal USDA-Wildlife Services team carried out the trapping and killing of nine Price County wolves due to a series of verified threats to human health and safety in the town of Flambeau.

Just imagine if the Michigan DNR killed every wolf that threatened a Michigan resident or town. We’d have a wholeeeeee lot less.

We have an anti hunting governor though that doesn’t care about Yoopers or the animals that live here. She wants the land completely void of life so we no longer have a purpose to have guns.

This is why Gretchen appointed Scott Bowen as Director of the MDNR. Scott went from managing the Michigan Lottery to managing Michigan’s Natural Resources.

Pretty crazy wouldn’t ya say? How could a guy that’s done nothing in his career other than manage a lottery system possibly care about our animals, our land, and our way of life.

Scott and Gretchen are openly anti hunting and anti guns. Yet millions of Michigan folks are happy with the job they have done the last few years and would vote for these people again. Could you imagine Michigan without hunting or guns?
I couldn’t.

All Scott cares about is putting MILLIONS of dollars into boardwalks, side walks, and parking lots on our public lands. He’s not done a single thing for our animals or the land they live on.

The head of the MDNR should care about outdoorsman, hunters and fisherman just as much as he cares about the tourists that want to see pictured rocks. He doesnt though. Thats only because the tourist that wants to pick rocks, or view the rocks doesn’t threat their agenda.

This is why voting matter folks. If you care about wildlife and the right to own fi****ms in the state of Michigan you must get out and vote. You have no choice this time around. It’s only going to get worse FAST. If you’ve never voted in your life, you’ve got to make this the first time.

These people are going to deplete our ungulate populations and hunter numbers until there’s nothing left of either. The U.P. will become another Isle Royal if we do not stand up to their agenda and vote against it.
