Do you know of a child who could use an extra special Christmas? This year's FOP Cops & Kids event will be December 14th in Vermillion at the Vermillion Walmart.

This event is for children in Clay, Union, and Turner Counties (a separate event will be hosted in Yankton for Yankton County children).

Children 4-14 years old will be considered. Preference will be given to children who did not participate last year. Please send recommended shopper names with their parent/guardian names and contact information (phone number and email address) to VPD Sgt. Newman at:

Email is preferred over private Facebook message.

You'll receive an email and/or call back confirming whether or not the child has been selected as a 2025 shopper by December 12th. Please ensure the child will have availability and transportation to attend before submitting their name. A list of alternates will be kept, but no-showing still has the potential to take the shopping opportunity away from other children (we understand if illness or other unplanned issues happen, just give us a heads up if you cannot make it. 🙂)
