Thank you to The Maui News for writing about Camp Maluhia. Your support and the support of the community is greatly appreciated!

Tucked into the hills of Waihee in West Maui, Camp Maluhia stands as a jewel in the community, crafted by generations of volunteers and partnerships over the course of almost 100 years. For the people who’ve taken the responsibility as the camp’s caretakers, it’s important that things stay tha...

Big mahalo to ProRoofing for the quick roof job on Rotary cabin.

The roof was well over 30 years old, possibly the original roof and needed to be replaced. Luckily it just started leaking and we were able to get a new roof before damaging the ceiling and interior.

Alex and crew are PROFESSIONALS.

We look forward to ProRoofing doing more projects on camp.

Last camp work day of 2025….thank you for all the hard work. We had scouts and adult leaders from troops 1, 18, 40, 180 and Uncle Matt Snyder representing 49.

Troop 1 worked on the hill below the dining hall, cleared out roots, weeds and debris and planted a bunch of white flowers.

Troop 40 took care of Pop Hutton campsite, lots of yard work and cleaning the bathrooms.

Troop 18 was down at the range, general cleanup of the backstop and berms, weedwacking and removing rocks/sticks, prepping the area for hydro seeding. Painted the tables and benches, lots of raking leaves and pine needles.

Thank you uncle Matt for cutting the hedge, looks like professional kine job….

Thank you again to all of you that took time to take care of our camp.

Been a while since our last camp up dates:

Rotary cabin and campsite is getting much needed attention, it needs all the help it can get.

Ceiling above the front porch was drywall and cracking/sagging sue to the constant moisture at camp. It was pulled down and replaced with 1/4” plywood. We corrected a bad patch job that was done on the trim at the same time. Primed and ready for paint.

Attempts were made to patch the front stairs, just needed to replace two threads. Found that the stringer was rotten as well. Completely new stairs were build. Primed and ready for paint.

Rear stairs were in worse shape, no attempt was made to repair, it was torn out and also replaced. We were able to salvage a few 2”x4”s and used what we could. Primed and ready for paint.

The exterior was pressure washed.

New rear door needs to be either built or special ordered as the size is not readily available.

New screens need to be made for all windows.

Hoping to paint the exterior this week….

New roof in the near future.

Stay tuned for updates.

As always, camp needs help and if you are available, let me know.

Thank you Uncle Mat Snyder for coming up and helping get Rotary cabin back to her beautiful self.

ManKindProject was back on property to continue their Longhouse building improvements on Saturday. They have adopted the building and have painted the exterior, replaced the exterior window trim, built custom doors and have numerous other improvements planned.

Three expert carpenters and a handful of eager assistants were worked on installing doors the group made last year and replacing interior window trim.

Three door sets were installed. All the window trim on the North and East sides were painted and installed.

They also primed the stairs for the food trailer, however rain prevented the top coat from being applied.

Work will continue in the months to come.

Team Rubicon is back at Camp Maluhia….

6 huge pine trees down. 2 dozen Eucalyptus and other trees removed.

At least 100K in tree work completed in just a few days. Usable trunks will be milled and the lumber used at camp. Branches chipped for sale to the community or use at camp.

So far, Team Rubicon has saved Aloha Council about 200K just on Maui.

More photos to come.
