Camp because I said I would is in the 2nd largest Amish settlement in the world. Visiting can be a chance to slow down and experience a part of Ohio known for handmade goods, family-run shops, bakeries, farm stands, scenic backroads, traditional foods, and a noticeably different pace of life.

Spend the morning exploring nearby Amish Country, then come back to Camp for 92 acres of woods, trails, fire pits, hot tubs, and space to actually disconnect for a while.

Getting 20 people to agree on anything is difficult. Finding one place where everyone can actually stay together does not have to be.

Manor Lodge at Camp because I said I would has 35 sleeping spots with seven bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms, two kitchens, large gathering spaces with fireplaces, two wet bars, a game room with an 8-foot pool table, a 28-person banquet room, and an 18-person dining room.

Outside, groups can enjoy a private hot tub, three-tier cedar sauna, 100-foot front porch, screened porch, and a large deck overlooking the woods.

It makes the Lodge a natural fit for family reunions, corporate retreats, private gatherings, and groups that would rather spend their evenings together than scattered across separate hotel rooms.

Not every good conversation needs to happen around a conference table.
Camp because I said I would’s event venue includes outdoor spaces designed to give groups more room to gather, talk, celebrate, and simply spend time outside.

For retreats, that means a group can move outside between sessions. For celebrations and events, it means guests are not limited to one room all day. And when the evening gets cooler, a fire pit has a way of keeping people talking longer than they planned.

You can care deeply about someone who is grieving and still have no idea what to say. Sometimes what helps is simply making sure they know support exists.

Camp because I said I would’s next Adult Bereavement Retreat is scheduled for November 20 through November 22 in Walhonding, Ohio. The retreat creates space for adults navigating loss to connect with others who understand, process grief, and strengthen practical resiliency skills and mental health habits.

The people carrying the most responsibility are often the last ones to admit they need time to reset. Camp because I said I would’s Resilient Leaders Retreat is a three-day, two-night leadership development experience focused on mental strength, accountability, resilience, and purpose-driven leadership.

The retreat is hosted by because I said I would founder Alex Sheen and includes private lodging, chef-prepared meals, workshop materials, and access to Camp’s 92-acre property.

The next currently scheduled retreat is December 14 through December 16, 2026.

This is not just time away from work. It is intentional time to examine how you lead, how you respond to pressure, and what habits you bring back to the people who count on you.

Nobody comes to Camp hoping to spend the evening washing a mountain of dishes by hand.
Camp because I said I would currently needs one full-size dishwasher, estimated at $550, to support group stays, retreats, and events.

A dishwasher helps gives everyone more time to focus on serving the people who came to Camp. It is not the flashiest item on a wish list, but it is the kind of practical donation that gets used over and over again.
