On the newest episode of The Blackberry Podcast, grape growing expert and Napa Valley farming legend Jim Barbour invites you to consider what goes into nurturing the grapes that become your favorite bottles of wine.

Host Sarah Chabot is joined by Christen Waddell, Blackberry Farm farmstead manager, for a thoughtful conversation about what it means to truly love the land you work on. You don’t have to be a farmer to appreciate the knowledge and level of skill that both Jim and Christen bring to the fields and rows they tend. They talk about the balance of technological advances versus tried-and-true practices and share a few tricks of the trade. You might finish the episode inspired to find a little wool for your own garden!

At its core, this episode is about loving what you do. It’s a beautiful message about what it means to sow seeds with generations to come in mind and leaving something better than you found it. Whether it’s truly in the soil or in the larger conversation of life, this episode is a reminder of the value of doing the best job caring for what you plant.

Emeril needs no introduction and as the youngest two-star Michelin chef ever, E.J. Lagassee doesn’t either!

This week on The Blackberry Podcast, we're pulling up a chair with Chef Emeril Lagasse and Chef E.J. Lagasse, and we can't wait for you to hear this one.

Emeril's career spans television, cookbooks and restaurants that changed how this country understands New Orleans cooking. And E.J. is writing a remarkable story of his own, at 23, the youngest chef in history to earn two Michelin stars, carrying the family's New Orleans flagship, Emeril's, into a new era on his own terms.

A few weeks ago, the Lagasses joined us at Blackberry Farm for our Passing the Torch weekend, an annual celebration of what it means for one generation of chefs to open the door for the next. And there's no truer picture of that than a father and son sharing the torch, especially in our 50th anniversary year.

Together, they talk about where E.J.'s love of cooking began, what it means to build your life's work alongside family and the lessons that can only be passed down, never taught.

So, pour a cup of something you love, settle in and join us. Listen and watch the episode on YouTube now by clicking the link, or find us on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts. bit.ly/TheBlackberryPodcast

Above all, Dolly Parton was a giver.

Her light began here in East Tennessee and reached every corner of the world — through songs that changed music forever and through a generosity that changed lives quietly, one note, one book, one gift, one act of kindness at a time. She taught us to love bigger, work harder and hold fast to home, family and faith — our own, and each other's.

Today the world mourns, but these mountains feel it most. She was a bright light and the queen of our hearts, and we could not be prouder to call her one of ours and of all she gave.

Thank you, Dolly, for showing us the power of kindness.

Photo: In 1997, Dolly sat down with Dan Rather on the veranda of the Main House at Blackberry Farm for an interview. We'll hold that memory — and her — close, always.

Nathaniel Rateliff took the Bramble Hall outdoor stage last Saturday night and it was every bit as soul-stirring as you’d imagine! From his charismatic energy to the dancing lighting bugs, it was a perfect night for music under the stars benefitting the Americana Music Association.
