Saturday, August 29th: The Big Finale! The Jam Band formerly known as Slipknot with a Lobster Fest by Theatre Café! We are thrilled to be here for the opening of our very good friends at Lost Towns Brewing’s new Tap Room at the Stone Mill in Ware MA!

A beautiful space in a remarkable antique mill building!

In between this winter’s now constant barrage of snow storms, I have begun felling the trees that will become the boards of our next cabin.

This particular Eastern White Pine ranks among the larger trees that I have dropped. That tiny human near the tree as it falls is me! Some of hemlocks that we dropped to make the 102 3x12x16 floor joists for the main house may have exceeded this one in girth though not in height.*

The bottom few logs from this Eastern White Pine will make 5/4 x 24 inch wide pine boards for walls and ceilings. The intent is to finish them in a manner resembling what was done in the 1700’s - similar to what you see on the walls of the 300 year old dining room at Salem Cross Inn.

*White pines frequently reach 100-150 feet tall, often towering over the forest canopy. Mature Hemlocks typically reach 70-100 feet, with exceptional specimens reaching up to 130 feet tall. This pine seemed every bit of 150 feet tall.

Laurel Ridge Bed and Breakfast's Salem Cross Inn Fireplace Feast Alert! These may be the only two tickets to the Feast that are currently available for the rest of the 2025-2026 Fireplace Feast season, and they just happen to be coupled with a stay at out magical B&B!

Due to a last minute cancellation, THIS SATURDAY January 31st in a private Loft Room has come available! First come, first served via email ONLY - [email protected]. Please do not call or message - I can't keep track of that and it won't count! (If you can't take it - share this post!)

Our package includes a night in our Loft Bedroom, two tickets to the Feast, Round trip Limo service to and from Salem Cross Inn, and our amazing breakfast in the morning!

We have a new restaurant to add to our list of suggested dining establishments!

The Metro Bistrot has been on our “we need to go there” list for way too long! They are open for dining when we are also busy, which presents a scheduling challenge. We finally made it there this past Thursday evening and the experience was top-notch!

Situated in an unassuming plaza in Southbridge, MA, about a thirty minute drive from Laurel Ridge, you will find this delightful little restaurant! Spotlessly clean, great ambiance, impeccable service, and wonderful food! Chef Livernois spends a great deal of time table side interacting with his guests - a unique touch!
